Mr. Jose E. Morales, Diretor
Flint Business Association
584 Brabyn Avenue
Flint, MI 48508-5548
Dear Mr. Morales
The Octagon Club is concerned about Baker House.
As you know, Baker House was built on Calumet Road in 1797 by Zaccaria Baker; he and his family lived there for many years. It was name for various other families until 1938, When it became an attractive law and real estate office. Flint residents somehow assumed that Baker House was a permanent part of Flint. It wasnt.
Baker House was torn down last week to make room for new mall. Its too late to save Baker House. But what about other Flint landmarks. Shall we lose them, too? Shopping malls may indicate that a community is growing, but need growth destroy our heritage?
We ask for help. Will you and Mr. Wilkes include 20 minutes on your January meeting agenda for Myrna Targlif, president of the Flint Octagon Club, to present our views on this problem? She has information that I guarantee you will find interesting; a brief outline is enclosed.
Sincerely yours
Barbara Brahms
