Sadly, the first person to be killed in World War 1 was John Parr. He was a local boy from North Finchley and would have gone to a primary school very similar to St Paul’s. In July 1914 he celebrated his seventeenth birthday by enlisting. Sadly, four weeks later he died whilst on reconnaissance duties on the border of Belgium. We marked this moment by joining thousands of other school aged children at St Paul’s Cathedral for a special service of remembrance. Also, throughout the week, Year 6 children were selling poppies for the Royal British Legion. Learning Together Head Teacher: Anthony David Deputy Head: Suzanne Whittick

China is to launch a fake "moon" into space that it hopes will illuminate one of the country's biggest cities. Officials in Chengdu, a city of 14 million people in China's southwestern province of Sichuan, announced plans to place a satellite in orbit by 2020 capable of reflecting sunlight onto its streets at night, claiming it will be bright enough to entirely replace street lights. Things to talk about at home…

Do you think a new ‘fake moon’ is a good idea?

Do you think it’s important that we have night and day? It is thought that the new moon would save a lot of money and electricity, but it may

affect wildlife, which do you think is more important?

Building Confidence and Managing Your Child’s Anxiety Workshop There will be a workshop for parents, run by psychological wellbeing practictioners, on Monday 3rd December from 9:00 – 11:00am. Please contact the school office if you would like to book a place and see the attached leaflet for more details.

Parking

Please would parents and carers be mindful of our neighbours when parking to drop children off or pick children up. Please do not block the church car park, park between the church or school or in the staff car park, park on the zig zag lines (even just to drop off a child), or in the residents only spaces. We have been made aware that a recent parking incident prevented access to the church to a person with reduced mobility. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

XPLORE Programme XPLORE is a free programme for children, young people and their families to become fitter, heathier and more active. See the attached flyer for more details.
