Clark & Lewis Lewis
William Clark worked under Meriwether Lewis in the army. Lewis got a job offer to work as Thomas Jefferson’s secretary, so he gave Clark his old position in the army. When Lewis got sent on the journey he picked his old friend, William Clark as the 2nd captain right under Lewis.

These are all of the 12 states that the Corps of Discovery crossed on their journey:
Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington.
SacagaweaSacagawea was only around 16 when she gave birth to her son Jean-Baptiste who became apart of the journey across the West. Sacagawea was a huge help in the journey. She showed The Corps of Discovery what is poisonous and okay to eat or touch.

Seaman
Seaman was Meriwether Lewis’s dog. Seaman was a great hunter and he was a comfort for the men. He was a young black Newfoundland. Only once a group of Native Americans tried to kidnap him. Also a different group of Native Americans called Seaman “Bear Dog”.

Thomas Jefferson was the one who bought the Louisiana Purchase. He was also the one who sent Lewis and Clark on their journey. He was the President of the United States at the time. He was very curious.
Conclusion
The Corps of Discovery was very important because they found the Pacific Ocean and discovered many, many things. Lewis and Clark and everybody in the Corps were very important in the U.S history.
