Correlating school physics with practical usage of the photovoltaic cells is a specialty of this system. These unique didactic innovations are the premier choice when it comes to experiments related to solar energy since it has won the Worlddidac Award.

The system has been conceived in such a way that most experiments can be conducted in normal room lighting. An external current is not necessary for these experiments. The leXsolar lighting module (included) is required only for a few experiments – which can be operated with a students’ power supply.

Additionally, the product is expandable with „Measurements without Measuring“. This expansion allows further qualitative experiments for stu-dents between the ages of 12 to 15.

Item-No. 1404

This system provides you with all the answers you need concer-ning the basics of using wind energy. With the help of curriculum-based trials, it discusses different topics, which are necessary for understanding the functions of wind power plants. The study of how wind force, wind direction or rotor type influences the power output are only some examples of possible experiments. Both qualitative experiments – for students from age of 11 through 13 and complete quantitative trials for physics lessons until the age of 19 – are described in detail. For the qualitative trials, the expansion “Measurements without Measuring“ is required.

• Dependence of the wind power plant on wind speed• Variation of the generated voltage produced by changing the load• Analysis of wind speed in front of and behind the rotor• Dependence of the power output of a wind turbine on number of blades (qualitative and quantitative)• Influence of the rotor blade profile on the power output of a wind turbine (qualitative and quantitative)• Dependency of the power output of a wind turbine on blade pitch (qualitative and quantitative)• Effincency determination of a wind power plant• Saving energy• Energy conversion and use of wind energy• Analysis of different rotor types (Savonius-rotor and impeller)• Characteristics of the wind generator• Dependence of the wind generator on wind direction

For the most of the experiments manuals with different difficulty levels are available: qualitative experimentsfor the grades 5 to 8 and quantitative manuals for older students. The expansion “Measurementswithout Measuring” (Item-No. 1106) is necessary for the qualitative experiments.

With the help of the extension anemometer (1400-02) the direct determination of wind speed is possible. The extension enlarges the scope of experiments through additional experiments.

As of now all products of the leXsolar-Wind range will be delivered with a new set of rotor blades. With the aid of these blades the following parameters of the wind turbine within the experiment can be varied:

• blade profile (optimized profile and “windmill vane”)• number of blades at the rotor (1,2, 3 or 4 blades)• blade pitch (20°, 25°, 30°, 50° and 90°)

The rotor blades are sympathized with reality regarding blade profile and blade twisting and therefore the only ones in the educational material market who make realistic experiments concerning wind power possible.

leXsolar-H2 Ready-to-go offers the entire scope of the latest experiments in fuel cell technology for the classroom. With a solar panel, electrolyzer, and fuel cells, a solar-hydrogen-circuit can be set up and analyzed. On the other hand, the students also have the possibility of researching each single component. Working principles, efficiency, and the characteristic curves of electrolyzers and fuel cells are just some of the possible topics. With the included consumer modules younger students (from 12 years up) are also able to run simple basic experiments. Besides the PEM-fuel cell (PEM = polymer electrolyte membrane) a metha-nol-fuel cell is included, which can use methanol instead of hydrogen as fuel. That is why this fuel cell also has a high practical relevance. Further-more, additional experiments such as working with different membranes or a comparison of the operating mode of fuel cells with air and hydrogen as well as hydrogen and oxygen, can be displayed. True to the tradition of the Ready-to-go line all ancillary equipment are already included in the robust aluminum suitcase.

lexsolar-BioFuel deals with the different technologies of producing and using biomass fuel. Biofuels have two important advantages: they store renewable energies and they can easily replace fossil fuel in transportation. The ecological balance sheet of organic fuels should be viewed critically to prevent an extreme scenario where the rain forest has to be rooted out for its production.

leXsolar-BioFuelItem-No. 1702

The entire process of the production of organic fuels can be displayed with leXsolar-BioFuel Large. It starts with the biolo-gical step of alcohol fermentation. Afterwards the produced mash will be distilled with the help of the leXsolar-condenser, which was developed just for this experiment. The last step demonstrates the conversion of the produced biofuel into usable energy, such as electrical energy, using the provided Ethanol-fuel cell.leXsolar-BioFuel Large not only covers the topic of the produc-tion of bioethanol, but also the production of biodiesel through transesterification of fats.

This product enables the automatic recording of current and voltage values by a computer. The required software is included on the leXsolar-CD.This expansion allows various additional experiments with the leXsolar-PV Professional. Many tests will be simplified because a long series of measurements will no longer need to be done by hand. For example, the performance of a PWM-charge regulator can be measured with a very high temporal resolution (up to 5kHz) to display the principles of a pulse-width modulated charge regulator. The included software helps to analyze the measurement or can be used to export all data to Excel.
