LGC’s 2014 Fall Catalog One of my favorite times to fish is here

– Fall. Fall is a great time to get out and

enjoy the fisheries. The Lower

Sacramento, Feather River and the Pond

Smelt crash at Lake Almanor. All in all

it’s a great time to experience what

Northern California has to offer.

2014 marks LGC’s decade celebration.

When Kirsten & I decided to start

another fly-fishing company we sought

to do something new and different. Not

the same old “guide business”. We

developed schools, workshops and we

designed the fly-fishing tours with one

thing in mind – the education of fly-

fishing. We love teaching the sport of

fly-fishing and our guests agree. With

over 150 steelhead, switch and spey

schools, over 200 different workshops

and a staggering 450 people through our

tour program – it is safe to say that we

are doing it right. We just believe that

you, our customer, come first and with

that we invite you to come fish this Fall

with us!!!

The Lower Sacramento

Every time I drift the Lower Sacramento I feel at home. It’s a river that welcomes

you back and lets you enjoy the fast paced, tough fighting trout that call it home.

Not to mention that Fall is a great time to hook into a steelie here and there – it’s

truly amazing!

With the return of the Salmon and Steelhead the bows’ will be primed and ready to

eat and eat and eat! It’s a great time to enjoy the river. We only have a couple of

dates left. So if you would like to drift – give us a call. The days that are available are

October 8th and November 7th.Learn More

LGC’s Schools & Workshops

LGC’s schools and workshops are in full throttle this Fall. On the calendar are an

“Introduction to Switch Rods” workshop and a Steelhead School can be customized

for anglers wishing to learn two handed or single handed techniques, or both.

The “Introduction to Switch Rods” workshop is a one day event. It will be held on

either the Feather River or the Lower Sacramento. The workshop will introduce the

student to the rods, lines and rigging of the rods. We will fish and work on both

single and double handed techniques. The workshop is limited to two people for

maximum one on one time with the instructor. Learn More

The Steelhead, Switch and Spey School can be customized into what the two

students want. We can work on single and double handed instruction or just one

application. The school is a two day school incorporating rigging, techniques’ and

positioning you to cast to these mighty fighters. A great two day course held on the

Feather River. Learn More

Fly-Fishing Tours

The Fly-Fishing Tours are awesome. These tours have proven that fly fishers want

education and a fun day fishing on the water. The tour is basically a tour of the

fishery, a workshop with learning rigging, techniques, casting, entomology

combined with a guided fishing trip – the concept is a win-win for the guest.

The Feather River Steelhead Tour is fantastic. This one day tour of the Low Flow

of the Feather will give the angler access areas, rigging, fly selections, wading skills

and basic good concept information on the river. We will split the day, half driving

the access areas and showing fishers the different riffles that are in the Low Flow.

Then we are going to drift the upper section in our Fishcraft Driftboat. We will

fish the rest of the afternoon drifting and wading the upper river. It’s a great day on

the water! Learn More

The Putah Creek Tour is one of our oldest tours. It is a great introduction tour to

this great little tailwater. The fishery is re-bounding with fish ranging from 10”-28”

long. Small flies, tight lines and crisp mornings are the name of the game on Putah.

The American River Steelhead Tour is one of our most popular tours. Fishing this

urban steelhead tailwater is simply fun. It’s located right in the heart of Sacramento

and holds easy access for Central Valley and Bay Area steelheaders. A fishery that is

very consistent and easy to get to during all types of weather. Learn More

The Yuba River Tour is great. Jon Baiocchi joins Lance on this one day tour

exploring the Lower Yuba. The tour is during the Skawla hatch prime months. We

focus on access areas, rigging, techniques and Jon breaks out his entomology gear

and we match bugs to flies. It’s a great tour that guests have raved about. Learn

Lance Gray & Company of Willows, CA, along Tie-Fast of Chico, CA would like to introduce the Gray’s Indicator and Gray’s Indicator Leader System. Hand tied in the USA. Lance & Lincoln Gray, local Northern California guides, developed the Gray’s Indicator and Leader System for use on their drift boat on the famed Lower Sacramento River. Gray’s Indicator is designed with a large foam sphere for suspending large flies and designed with a stem to tell if you’re at dead drift. The indicator can be fished in a fixed or adjustable position. Bright Orange or Chartreuse 1” indicators are available. Retail price is $9.95 a package, two indicators per package. Gray’s Indicator Leader System is a perfect adjustable leader for dead drift fishing from a watercraft or when wading. This 8’ foot adjustable leader is designed for the fisher to adjust the indicator to the depth of water by simply moving the hand tied stoppers either up or down the leader system. The system has 9’ foot adjustability and can be fished in numerous situations. Bright Orange or Chartreuse 1” indicators are available in the leader system. Retail price is $9.95 a package, one leader per package.
