The great ethnic, linguisticand geographic diversities ofAsia are overshadowed only byits vast population. For centuries, missionaries have traveled to thefar east to Christianize the masses.Because of many Asians’ view ofChristianity as a “Westernreligion” that poses a threat tocenturies-old traditions, LHMministry centers there utilizeculturally appropriate methodsto creatively spread the Gospelmessage. Puppet shows andmusic and drama performancestypically draw large audiences.

LLutheran Hour Ministries seeks to proclaim the hope and salvation found in the Word of God byreaching out to people of all nations and building relationships with individuals in order to connectthem, in fellowship, to a local congregation.

radio and television Broadcasts – Locally produced topical programming and syndicatedepisodes encourage a wide variety of audiences to contact LHM to learn more about the messageof Jesus Christ. Respondents are prayed with, given Christian literature and Bible CorrespondenceCourses (BCC), and are offered the opportunity to connect with a local church. LHM’s flagshipradio program the Lutheran hour, is also broadcast in several countries around the world.

Performing arts Ministry – Music, art, and dance are used to proclaim the Gospel in a culturallyappropriate way. Schools, hospitals, prisons, and communities often invite LHM performers toprovide spiritual education through entertainment. LHM also partners with local congregationsto engage youth and their families to attend rallies. Rallies are held in villages or cities wherethe Gospel is shared through storytelling, puppet shows, and evening film shows.

holistic Ministry – Over the past few years, LHM ministrycenters have incorporated holistic approaches to sharingthe Gospel. In times of unexpected disasters, for instance,LHM staff and volunteers work with partner organizationsto deliver and distribute essential items or help to buildand restore damaged property. Oftentimes, these actionswhich are carried out in love, lead victims to want to knowmore about Christ and the hope we all share in Him.

new Media technology – As technology rapidly evolvesand becomes widely available around the world, LHM isconstantly finding ways to utilize new media to spreadthe Gospel. Where cell phones are widely in use, peopleare invited to send text messages in response to radioand television programs.

LLutheran Hour Ministries is an organization that relies on the help of volunteers. Nowhere is this more evident than in thecommitment of these volunteers around the world.

District Partnerships – Through LHM's District Partnership program, individuals, congregations, schools, and otherLutheran groups, can partner in ministry worldwide by working directly with an LHM international ministry center.

LLL districts participating in this partnership program commit to supporting an LHM ministry center through prayer, volunteers, and financial gifts. Districts have the opportunity to choose from a variety of ministry center needs, allowingLHM staff to reach out with effective ministry to the people of that region.

Volunteer trips – The Global impact Volunteer program gives volunteers a chance to participatein global outreach efforts through short-term overseas mission trips. As part of a Global impactVolunteer team, volunteers take on a variety of service projects that allow them to share the loveof Christ with people who may otherwise have never known it. They may be helping to constructa building, do general repairs, or conduct Vacation Bible School for children. In addition to servingin these areas, participants often have time to visit some of the well-known attractions that eachcountry has to offer.

Ministry tours – Ministry tours give individuals a chance to meet and talk with LHM ministrycenter staff and volunteers abroad. This gives them a firsthand look at the progress our centersare making, as well as the challenges they are facing. In years past, tour groups to China andHong Kong have enjoyed a spectacular fireworks display to commemorate the Chinese New Year.
