love ancient things. It would be

amazing.

When surfing the Internet, what

website do you visit the most

ding gowns, pottery barn and

restoration hardware web sites. I am

always thinking about the future.

If you could eat dinner with three

other people (living or dead), who

would they be and why?

Lindsay Lohan, then I could talk

some sense into her and we can be

friends, and Victoria and David

Beckham. I know I would hit it off

with them, and then we can double

date!

After graduation, I would like to …

I am hoping to go to Lehigh

University and become a school

guidance counselor.

AAsshhlleeyy’’ss AAnngglleeMy earliest soccer memory is …

when I was about 8 or 10 years old

and remembering my soccer coach,

Coach O'Grady, taking me during

one of our games for AYSO and

telling me we need a goal to win this

game and you got to do something

about it. It was the first time in my

soccer career that I had a coach put

so much pressure and confidence in

me to get the job done. And I did my

job, and scored the winning goal.

Coach O'Grady challenged me, and I

was able to meet it, and I will never

forget that.

It is not good for you,

but I still eat ... double fiber muffins.

When I have an hour of free time

I like to ... hang out with my friends

and family.

Who is your favorite Bible

character and why?

Paul, because he was a great soul

winner for Christ.

What is something about you that

other people don’t know?

I absolutely love spinach...mostly

because Popeye loved it, and I loved

Popeye.

After graduation, I would like to ...

play soccer at the highest level, and

get a job as a strength training coach

somewhere.

2006 SEASON IN REVIEW2007 WOMEN’S SOCCER

After producing a conference-record third championship and thefourth double-digit win season inprogram history in 2005, the 2006Lady Flames entered the season ina different position than mostLiberty teams, as the defending BigSouth champion. With manyreturnees from the previous yearand few question marks going into2006, the Lady Flames were evenpicked as the league’s preseasonfavorite.

As preseason practice began, the2006 squad looked forward to thetask of being the “team to beat”with enthusiasm, excitement andoptimism. And, with competition atevery position, the Lady Flameswent to work in late August lookingto add more championship hard-ware to their trophy case.

On the season’s opening night, head coach James Price’s teamopened up just up the road inFarmville, against the LongwoodLancers. Liberty freshman MaggieWoody scored her first collegiategoal 13 minutes into the contestand veterans Kristin Faxon andAshley Braam each added one in a3-0 win.

Two nights later, the LadyFlames stood toe-to-toe with

Virginia, the nation’s seventh-ranked team. The Cavaliers tookan early lead with the only goal ofthe night, but could not muster anymore in a 1-0 victory over Liberty.

After splitting the first two con-tests of the year, the Lady Flamesbegan September by traveling tothe state of Arkansas for two week-end contests in the “Natural State”.Tanya Payne and Brittney Benchboth found the net in a 2-0 win overJohn Brown, the second combinedshutout by goalkeepers KatherineNeff and Michelle Rich, to open theweekend. However, in the secondgame of the trip, Arkansas took anearly advantage and never lookedback in a 3-1 Liberty setback.

With a 2-2 record and after aweek off, the Lady Flames facedanother tough set of games at theVirginia Tech Tournament. OnFriday afternoon, the nationally-ranked Wake Forest DemonDeacons came away with a 4-0win. On Sunday, host Virginia Technetted two goals early in a 2-0 vic-tory, ending a stretch of six-straightcontests away from Liberty SoccerField to begin the year.

At 2-4, the Lady Flames openedtheir home schedule and begandefense of their Big SouthConference Championship bysquaring off with CharlestonSouthern. On a day when every-thing clicked, Liberty opened con-ference play in grand fashion with a7-0 win. Braam and midfielder AmyOberlin each tallied five-point after-noons with two goals and an assistapiece in the contest. The offensiveoutburst would be the biggest dur-ing the 2006 season, while thesquad’s third win was also its thirdshutout.

Two days later, a strong effort put the Lady Flames in position fora win at undefeated Old Dominion. However, the Monarchs scored lateto send the match to overtime andremain unbeaten with a goal in the

extra session for a 2-1 win. Theovertime setbacks continued as inits next contest, host CoastalCarolina handed Liberty its firstconference defeat with a 2-1 over-time victory.

Looking to get a roll, the 3-6Lady Flames returned home to fin-ish out September with back-to-back conference home gamesagainst High Point and UNCAsheville. Oberlin and KendallBartholomew each scored first-halfgoals to take a 2-0 lead over HighPoint. Then, it was the defense’sturn as goalkeeper Katherine Neffand the Liberty defense held off asecond-half Panther rally for a 2-1win. Against UNC Asheville, neitherteam could gain an upper hand onthe afternoon, playing to a 0-0 tie.The draw left Liberty at 2-1-1 inconference play after four contests.

With September behind them, the Lady Flames entered Octoberbeginning to pick up momentum foranother Big South Tournament run.All four games in the month wereconference matches, and a strongfinish meant a high seed to defendtheir title in November.

Liberty began the month with a3-0 win at VMI to run its mark to 2-0-1 in its last three contests.

Katherine Neff

Bench, Mandee Wheelock andMallory Neff each scored goals tofuel victory.

Later in the first week ofOctober, Wheelock moved theunbeaten streak to four consecu-tive games with both goals in a 2-1win in a hard-fought match againstconference rival Radford. Afterscoring in the first half, the seniormidfielder sent the Lady Flamesback to Lynchburg with a win, put-ting her second goal of the night inthe back of the net with less thantwo minutes left for the victory.

Standing at 6-6-1 overall andamong the conference leaders at4-1-1, the team returned home forthe final match of the year againstBirmingham-Southern. Playing inher final home game, Wheelockscored for the third straight contest, while Oberlin later collected herteam-leading fifth goal in the 2-0win. The blanking was Liberty’sseventh shutout of the season andset up a battle for first place andthe No. 1 seed in the Big SouthChampionship, a week later, atWinthrop.

The host Lady Eagles came outfired up in the regular-season finalefor the Lady Flames. Winthropscored two goals early and thenwithstood a Liberty counterattack ina 2-0 win. In the contest, the Lady

Flames out-shot the Lady Eagles,16-7, but could not get on theboard. The defeat brought a halt toa five-game Liberty unbeatenstreak and closed the regular sea-son for the squad at 7-7-1 overalland 5-2-1 in the Big South.

Having served notice that theywere up to the challenge of a titledefense during the regular season, the Lady Flames entered the 2006Big South Championship as theNo. 3 seed, the same position theyhad captured the title from the yearbefore.

The night before competition, the annual conference awards ban-quet was held. Defender SuzanneEdwards, Oberlin and Wheelockwere named all-conference firstteam, while Braam was named tothe second team. Wheelock alsowas co-Scholar Athlete of the Year, while defender Heather Bowlingand midfielder Maggie Woody wereboth named to the all-freshmanteam.

The next day, Liberty’s firstround opponent was High Point. Ina highly competitive match, theLady Flames overcame a 2-1 half-time deficit to tie the game on agoal by Bartholomew and sent the game into overtime. After a score-less first extra period, senior KristinFaxon, not willing to see her LUcareer end, took a pass fromBartholomew on the left side andtucked it into the right corner of thenet for a 3-2, double overtime win, advancing Liberty into the semifi-nals.

In the semifinals, the LadyFlames would get payback on tour-nament host Coastal Carolina. TheChanticleers had dealt Liberty anovertime loss during the regularseason, but this night belonged tothe Lady Flames. After a scorelessfirst half, Price’s team broke out forthree goals in a 3-0 victory, moving Liberty into the final game against UNC Asheville for the second-

straight year. Mallory Neff netted agoal and added two assists to leadthe Lady Flames, who alsoreceived goals from seniors PaigeCheek and Wheelock.

Just like their meeting during theregular season, neither UNC Ashe-ville nor Liberty could find the backof the net during regulation in thefinal. With no score, the contestwent to overtime where once againno one could get one past a goal-keeper for victory. A second over-time followed, but still a scorelesstie continued, sending the contestto penalty kicks to decide the win-ner. In the penalty kick session, theBulldogs outscored the LadyFlames, 4-2, defeating the defend-ing champions in heartbreakingfashion.

Cheek and Faxon ended theircareers by being named to the all-tournament team, along withMallory Neff.

Despite coming up just short oftheir goal, the 2006 Lady Flameswill always be remembered for theirhard work, dedication and determi-nation in trying to defend a champi-onship and for setting the bar highfor those Liberty teams which fol-low them.

2007 WOMEN’S SOCCER

As the 2000 season began, expecta-tions were high for the Liberty LadyFlames women's soccer team. Comingoff the most successful season in theschool’s history in which the LadyFlames posted their first-ever winningrecord, the team won its first-ever BigSouth Tournament game andadvanced to the championship of theBig South tournament for the first timebefore falling 3-2 in a heartbreakingovertime loss to Elon, head coachJames Price's squad set the highestgoals ever for the program - a BigSouth Championship.

After posting a 4-2 Big South regularseason record, Liberty entered the BigSouth Championships at Radford, Va.as the number two seed drawing sev-

enth-seed UNC Asheville in the first round. After a sluggish first 20 minutesin which the Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead, the Lady Flames quickly took control ofthe game as junior forward NancyDavis tied the score on an unassistedgoal and less then 70 seconds latertook a feed from senior Cheryl Jonesfor another tally. After that, Libertynever looked back on its way to a 3-1victory. Junior Breanna Jacinto addeda goal in the second half.

In the semifinals, the Lady Flamesused sophomore midfielder EmilyShubin's early first half unassisted tallyand strong defense to shut outCharleston Southern, 1-0. With thewin, Liberty moved to the champi-onship game to meet the top-seededElon Phoenix for the second-straightseason.

Neither team could manage a goal inthe first half as they went to intermis-sion knotted in a scoreless tie and itremained deadlocked for the next 36minutes of the second half. In thegame's 81st minute, sophomore for-ward Katie Woodrow slipped behindthe Elon defense and was hauled downin the penalty area, resulting in a penal-ty shot. Davis would put the shot justinside the right post for a 1-0 lead withonly nine minutes left.

The Phoenix made an offensive pushin an attempt to even the score when aneutral zone turnover set up a corner

kick for Liberty. On the kick from theright of the Elon keeper, Jones sent across which Davis blasted from fiveyards out through a sea of players toseal a 2-0 victory and the program'sfirst-ever Big South Championship. The Lady Flames had proved theywere up to the task.

Goalie Amy Moxley earned her sec-ond shutout in two straight days andher fourth of the season in the win.

Davis, who tallied four of Liberty's sixtournament goals, was named theMVP. Jacinto, Sarah Gantner andJenny Davis also were named to theall-tournament team.

The team entered new territory for aLiberty team as it hosted TennesseeTech in an NCAA Play-In game inhopes of earning the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. SeniorMakaela Gibson, playing on her homefield for the final time, scored thegame's lone goal in the 31st minute offa cross from Nancy Davis and the LadyFlames would make it stand up for thirdstraight shutout, 1-0, to secure the pro-gram's first NCAA Tournament berth.

In the first round of the NCAATournament, Liberty fell to ACC powerWake Forest on their home field, 6-1, toend the season.

Despite the loss, it failed to diminishthe magical season by the LadyFlames as they posted a school-best15-7 record, the program's first BigSouth championship and its first berthto the NCAA Tournament. They provedthey could meet expectations.

2007 WOMEN’S SOCCER2001 BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONS

After having the best season in thehistory of the program by capturing theteam's first-ever Big South ConferenceChampionship and securing the pro-gram's first NCAA Tournament berth, the Lady Flames entered 2001 withdetermination to improve upon the priorseason. Not only did the team want torepeat as Big South Champions, some-thing no team had done since thebeginning of the tournament in 1993,but they also wanted to win the pro-gram's first NCAA Tournament game. With a majority of 2000's team return-ing, optimism was high on LibertyMountain for the program.

Facing the toughest schedule in theprogram's history, not only wouldJames Price's squad have a tough con-ference slate to maneuver through, butthey would also face some strong

teams nationally in Central Florida,Virginia, UNC Wilmington and WakeForest in non-conference match-ups.

After getting off to a 3-1-1 mark inconference play and winning six ofeight October games, the teamdropped its last two games of the regu-lar season, including a 1-0 decision atCharleston Southern, to end its confer-ence schedule.

The loss would send the defendingconference champions to the tourna-ment at Charleston, S.C. as the num-ber three seed and a first round matchwith High Point, a team which hadbeaten the Lady Flames earlier in theyear.

Lauren Zealand's breakaway goaldown the middle of the box at the 6:25mark avenged an earlier regular sea-son defeat as Liberty advanced to thesemifinals with a 1-0 victory.

Host Charleston Southern, the sec-ond seed, awaited the Lady Flames inthe semifinals. Once again, defensewas the key as Liberty limitedCharleston Southern, a squad whichhad beaten the Lady Flames the previ-ous weekend, to only seven shots in itssecond 1-0 win of the tournament.Katie Woodrow provided the match'sonly goal in the 10th minute of play.

In the championship game, the LadyFlames took on top-seeded Elon for thethird year in a row.

The two teams were scoreless lateinto the match until Liberty broke

through with two quick scores. Off acorner kick in the tight contest, JennyDavis found net by heading in EmilyShubin's cross at the 82:51 mark. Theduo followed it up less than a minutelater at 83:35 as Davis once againheaded a Shubin corner kick in for a 2-0 lead.

Freshman goalkeeper Natalie Mayerand the defense held on for their thirdshutout as the Lady Flames repeatedas Big South Champions. With the vic-tory, Liberty became the first Big Southteam since the tournament began in1993 to repeat as champion.

Davis earned Tournament MVP hon-ors and was joined by teammatesMayer, Zealand and defender SarahGantner on the all-tournament team.

Next up was a NCAA Tournamentfirst-round match with Virginia, whichthe Lady Flames dropped in a 3-0 deci-sion.

However, it could not dampen theaccomplishments of the 2001 LadyFlames. Determined and committed, the team did something no other BigSouth squad had done before, repeatas Big South Champions and set thebar high for future Lady Flame soccerteams.

2007 WOMEN’S SOCCER

It had been four years since theLiberty Lady Flames had hoisted theirsecond Big South Championship tro-phy. After enduring a rigorous stretchto begin the season, the Lady Flamesseemed to be coming together as ateam when they entered the 2005 BigSouth Championship with a 5-3 regularseason conference record and thetournament's No. 3 seed. On a ram-page, they had won the final fourmatches of the season, three of themagainst conference rivals.

In what head coach James Price latercalled the team's best all-around per-formance of the season, the LadyFlames opened the tournament with abang in their first-round contestThursday afternoon, overpowering thesixth-seeded Birmingham-SouthernPanthers, 4-1, on the power of two sec-ond-half goals from the foot of RachelHetrick. Ashley Braam got the scoringstarted at the 32:47 mark, off an assistfrom defender Tanya Payne. The tallygave the Lady Flames a 1-0 lead athalf.

Midway through the second half,Brittney Bench chose a perfect time toscore her first goal of the year, puttingthe ball into the back of the net at the61:24 mark off a pass from midfielderMandee Judd. At 77:35, Hetrick scoredher first goal of the tournament to makethe score 3-0, off a pass into the box bySarah Davis. The Panthers mustered

their only goal of the game with lessthan 10 minutes remaining in the matchto cut the score to 3-1. However, 1:10later, Hetrick notched her second goalof the match off a pass from AmyOberlin, giving the Lady Flames a 4-1victory.

In their only night game of the tourna-ment Friday, Liberty faced No. 7 seedRadford, who had upset No. 2 seedHigh Point the previous day, in a semi-final match-up. On a hazy and humidnight, the Lady Flames took it to theHighlanders in a physical match muchcloser than the two teams' meeting ear-lier in the season.

In the early stages of the match, nei-ther team could muster much offense,as the two teams combined for justseven shots in a scoreless first half.Early in the second half, the LadyFlames would trail for the first and onlytime during their tournament run asRadford netted its lone goal in the con-test's 54th minute.

However, the 1-0 deficit was short-lived as less than two minutes later,Oberlin rocketed a header past theHighlander keeper off a cross fromRachel Bendzlowicz, knotting thegame at 1-1.

The tie quickly disappeared as Benchput Liberty up for good in the 61stminute on a cross from Payne. TheLady Flames held on for a 2-1 decision.

Appearing in their fourth conference

championship game and the first since2001, Liberty squared off against No. 1seed UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon. In their previous meeting in earlyOctober in Asheville, the high-scoringBulldogs had controlled play through-out the game on their way to a 4-1 win.

However, this day was different asthe Lady Flames' defense shut downUNCA en route to a shutout victory. After playing to a scoreless stalematein the first half, Payne put Liberty onthe board in the match's 48th minute byplacing a penalty kick into the right cor-ner of the net for a 1-0 Lady Flamesadvantage.

Liberty extended its lead in thegame's 65th minute as a racing Juddsplit two defenders and broke up themiddle, blasting home a rebound of herown shot which the Bulldog keepersaved, but couldn't control and clear.

Judd added her second goal just min-utes later off of a Hetrick corner kick, giving Liberty its seventh straight win,3-0, and its third Big South Conferencechampionship.

Bendzlowicz was named the tourna-ment's MVP, while three other LadyFlames - Bench, Oberlin and Hetrick -were named to the all-tournamentteam.

Liberty advanced to the first round ofthe NCAA Tournament, where it fell tosite host and nationally-ranked Virginia, but that did not take away the renewedhope and enthusiasm surrounding theprogram after breaking through foranother Big South title.

ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATION

Dr. Jerry FalwellLiberty University Founder and Former Chancellor (1933-2007)

At the age of22, having justgraduated from col-lege in June of1956, Jerry Falwellreturned to hishometown ofLynchburg, Va.,and startedThomas Road

Baptist Church with 35 members. The offering thatfirst Sunday totaled only $135.

Falwell often said about the first collection,“We thought we had conquered the world”. Today,Thomas Road Church has 24,000 members andthe total annual revenues of all the Jerry Falwellministries total over $200 million.

Within weeks of founding his new church in1956, Falwell began the Old-Time Gospel Hour, adaily local radio ministry and a weekly local televi-sion ministry. Nearly five decades later, this Old-Time Gospel Hour is now seen and heard in everyAmerican home and on every continent exceptAntarctica. Through the years, over three millionpersons have communicated to the Falwell min-istries they received Christ as Lord and Savior asa result of this radio and television ministry.

In 1967, Falwell implemented his vision tobuild a Christian educational system for evangeli-

cal youth. He began with the creation ofLynchburg Christian Academy, a Christ-centered,academically-excellent, fully-accredited Christianday school, providing kindergarten, elementaryand high school.

In 1971, Liberty University was founded.Today, over 27,000 students from 50 states and80 nations attend this accredited, liberal artsChristian university. Falwell’s dream has becomea reality. A pre-school child can now enter theschool system at age three, and 20 or more yearslater, leave the same campus with a Ph.D., with-out ever sitting in a classroom where the teacherwas not a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Falwell was also publisher of the NationalLiberty Journal, a monthly newspaper which isread by over 200,000 pastors and Christian work-ers, and the Falwell Confidential, a weekly e-mailnewsletter to over 500,000 pastors and Christianactivists.

In June 1979, Falwell organized the MoralMajority, a conservative political lobbying move-ment which the press soon dubbed the "ReligiousRight." During the first two years of its existence, the Moral Majority attracted over 100,000 pastors, priests and rabbis and nearly seven million reli-gious conservatives who mobilized as a pro-life,pro-family, pro-Israel, and pro-strong nationaldefense lobbying organization.

The Moral Majority chose California GovernorRonald Reagan as "their candidate" for Presidentin 1980, registered millions of new voters, and setabout to inform and activate a sleeping giant - 80million Americans committed to faith, family, andJudeo-Christian values.

With the impetus of the newly organized MoralMajority, millions of people of faith voted for thefirst time in 1980 and helped elect Ronald Reaganand many conservative congressmen and sena-tors. Since 1979, about 30% of the American elec-torate has been identified by media polls as the"Religious Right". Most recent major media sur-veys have acknowledged these "faith and values"voters re-elected George W. Bush in November2004.

Though perhaps better known outsideLynchburg for political activism, Jerry Falwell'spersonal schedule confirmed his passion for beinga pastor and a Christian educator. He often statedhis heartbeat was for training young people forevery walk of life.

Falwell, who went home to be with the Lord atthe age of 73 on May 15, 2007, was married toMacel for 49 years and they have three grownchildren and eight grandchildren.

Jeff BarberDirector of Athletics

Jeff Barber wasnamed the Director ofAthletics at LibertyUniversity on Jan. 23,2006, becoming the10th Director ofAthletics in the historyof the University.

The University hascharged Barber with

the future leadership of the athletics departmentand the building of a strong financial basis for thedepartment which will guide Liberty University ath-letics into the ranks of the elite NCAA Division Iathletic programs in the nation.

Barber has wasted little time making an impactat Liberty, as in less than two years, he has beeninstrumental in guiding Liberty on a path to thenext level of collegiate athletics.

He has spearheaded facility improvement proj-ects in nearly every athletics venue, highlighted bychanges to Williams Stadium. During the summerof 2006, the football program’s on-campus playingfacility received the latest in playing surfaces asFieldTurf was installed, while numerous othersmaller projects were initiated to aestheticallyimprove the appearance of the facility.

However, Barber’s chief facility accomplish-ment since joining the Flames in 2005 was over-seeing the completion of the Williams FootballOperations Center. The new 48,000-square footstate-of-the-art home base for the football pro-gram is one of the nicest FCS (formerly I-AA) foot-ball-only facilities in the nation.

In addition to Barber’s athletic facility achieve-ments, the new Director of Athletics has spurred adramatic increase in Flames Club memberships

and season ticket sales for football and basket-ball.

Membership collections for the Flames Club, the Athletics Department’s booster club organiza-tion, reached an all-time new high during the2006-07 campaign as Liberty surpassed the$200,000 mark for the first time in the organiza-tion’s history. 2006 season ticket sales for footballwere four times as high as the previous year, put-ting Liberty on track to sell over 1,000 football sea-son tickets in 2007.

Barber brought a wealth of experience in theareas of athletic fundraising and administration toLiberty University, including 25 years in the athlet-ic industry.

Barber came to Liberty after spending 11 yearsat South Carolina, including his last three years asSenior Associate Athletic Director forDevelopment/Gamecock Club Executive Director.

Barber served on the senior managementteam at South Carolina for nine years, helpingraise more than $14 million annually, while work-ing closely with legendary football coaches LouHoltz and Steve Spurrier.

Barber supervised the solicitation and receiptof over $85 million during his tenure at SouthCarolina, setting records each year in annual giftsto the Gamecock Club, which was at 16,500 mem-bers when he finished. He was also responsiblefor all major gifts to the Gamecock Club whichexceeded $15,000 annually and developed thatlevel of giving from 21 members to 137 at his timeof departure.

Barber joined the athletics department atSouth Carolina in 1996 as an Assistant AthleticDirector for Development and was promoted toAssociate Athletic Director/Gamecock ClubExecutive Director in 1999.

Prior to his days at South Carolina, Barberserved five years at Furman in Greenville, S.C.,starting as Executive Director of the Paladin Club

in 1991, before being promoted to SeniorAssociate Athletic Director for External Affairs in1994.

While at Furman, Barber was responsible forthe collection of $14 million in revenue from annu-al giving, capital gifts and endowed gifts, whileguiding the Paladin Club to gifts totaling $3.75 mil-lion and set records for five-consecutive years. Hewas also the chairman of the Furman Pro-Am GolfEndowment Tournament, which totaled receipts of$6.5 million.

Barber got his start in collegiate athleticadministration at his alma mater as the AssistantDirector of East Carolina’s Pirate Club in 1987.While serving four years with the Pirates, Barberparticipated in the receipt of annual giving of $4million to the Pirate Club, while organizing andmanaging Pirate Club actions and Pirate Pro-Amfundraisers.

Before joining the staff at East Carolina,Barber served three years in major and minorleague baseball as he was the Assistant GeneralManager of the Columbia Mets in Columbia, S.C.(1985-86) and Director of Operations for theMontreal Expos Spring Training Camp in WestPalm Beach, Fla. (1986-87).

After graduating from East Carolina, Barberserved as a health and physical education teacherin Columbia, S.C. for four years (1981-85), whilecoaching football and basketball.

Barber graduated cum laude at East Carolinain 1981 with a bachelor of science degree inhealth, physical education and recreation. In1997, he continued his education with a degreefrom the Sports Management Institute, graduatingas class spokesman.

Barber, a native of Greenville, N.C., is marriedto the former Donna Dacus and the couple hasthree children – Katie (12), Lindsay (10) and Jay(9).

LIBERTY UNIVERSITY

In centuries gone by, "liberty" was just aconcept - an idea feared by tyrants anddreamed of by the opposed. In more recenthistory, "liberty" became a cause and adeeply held belief worth fighting and dyingfor. Today, Liberty University has become aplace where students call home … wherepeople dare to dream big dreams and thenwork to see those dreams come to pass …where old-fashioned values and morality stillsurvive and thrive in a world that appears tohave forgotten the meaning of the words…where the undeniable Truth of the Ages stillreigns supreme … where the whole person iseducated - body, mind and soul … a placewhere you can learn, grow and achievewholeness as you become all God createdyou to be.

TThhee MMiissssiioonn To produce Christ-centered men and

women with the values, knowledge and skillsrequired to impact tomorrow's world … themission is carried out for resident students, through both undergraduate and graduateprograms, through a rigorous academic pro-gram and structured social environment …also, it is carried out externally for studentswho can't make the trek to the campus in acomparable academic program but withoutthe structure of the resident community, through the distance learning program.

AA BBrriieeff HHiissttoorryy For more than 36 years, Liberty University

has produced graduates with the values, knowledge and skills required to impact theworld. Founded by Dr. Jerry Falwell and Dr.Elmer Towns in 1971, Liberty University is aprivate, coeducational, undergraduate andgraduate institution. The University offersover 60 programs of study that contribute tothe University’s standing as the world’slargest distinctively Christian, academicallyexcellent and spiritually vibrant institution. Our 5,000-acre campus serves over 25,000resident and external students with ourdiverse student body made up of individualsfrom all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and 81nations.

Liberty is truly a representation of whatGod can do with a dream and a heart thatdesires to honor Him.

ensuring quality is accreditation by a recog-nized accrediting body or agency. LibertyUniversity is regionally accredited by theSouthern Association of Colleges andSchools (SACS), and nationally accreditedby the Transnational Association of ChristianColleges and Schools (TRACS). Additionally,a number of specific programs are approvedby accrediting and licensing bodies for specif-ic disciplines (i.e. our Nursing, SportManagement and Education programs).SACS and TRACS, in turn, are both recog-nized accrediting bodies by the United StatesDepartment of Education.
