• Enter keywords for your topic in the search box on the home page
• This will search books, e-books, journals and articles, AV material and exam papers

Standard loan period is 4 weeks
Searching Journals
• You can find journal titles, or articles within journals
• Think about your search strategy – use “exact phrases” and Boolean operators (AND, OR)
• Advanced search option available

Where you see “Full Text Online”, in most cases you can view the article by entering your GUID and password
High Demand Collection
• Books in heavy demand for course work have reduced loan periods of 1 week, 24 hours or 4 hours
• All 24hr and 4hr books are in the High Demand Collection on level 3
• 1 week books are on levels 4-11
• If the item you need is not available you can place a hold on it
Hold Shelf
• The hold shelf can be found to the rear of the High Demand Collection on Level 3
• Books are arranged using a code comprised of the first letter of your family name and the last 4 digits of your library barcode
• You must use the self-service machines in this area to check out your hold item
Self-Service Machines
• Self-service machines are available in the High Demand Collection and elsewhere in the building
• Borrow, renew and return items quickly and easily
• You can choose a printed receipt or email receipt – both will serve as a reminder of when to return your books
