Licensing  ArcGIS for 2015 These instructions apply to ArcGIS 10, 10.1, 10.2 

(Basic/Standard/Advanced)(ArcView/ArcEditor/ArcInfo)–  your license file name may differ. 

1. You have installed ArcGIS and have received your license file. 

 

2. If you already had ArcGIS previously. Running ArcGIS administrator will show something similar 

to the below screen. 

 

3. If this is the first time you have installed ArcGIS proceed to step 5, otherwise browse to the 

folder C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet and delete all the files. (This will clear any existing licenses) 

*There is a hidden file there too 

Alternatively run from an Admin cmd prompt: 

del c:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\*.* /a SHR 

 

4. You can verify the license has been reset by opeing ArcGIS Administrator again now and 

selecting Availability. You should see nothing licensed. Close the ArcGIS Administrator. 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. Double Click the new license file and follow the prompts. 

 

 

6. Run the ArcGIS Administrator 

 

7. You will notice that Standard (ArcEditor) is selected. SELL has standardized licenses to Standard 

instead of Basic(ArcVIew). This will enable additional features for all licensees.

  

8. Verify that that Authorization was successful.

 

Errors you might have received: 

When attempting to deauthorize you receive the below error. 

Solution:  

 Cancel and complete Steps 3‐8.
