What about the high producing cow;
- the cow that weans one heavy calf annually and has conceived during the October mating season?
Nutr i Profos 10 – V17567
Palatable cost-effective P and trace mineral supplement for high producing animals on green grazing
A proportion of the important trace minerals is in the organically bound form
Better absorption, promoting immunity, fertility and growth
Contains 10% Crude Protein
Can be mixed with other feedstuffs
Also available as Nutri Profos 20 to be mixed 1:1 with coarse salt.
N u t r i t i o n a l m a n a ge m e nt d u r i n g t h e l ate s u m m e r, t ra n s i t i o n p e r i o d
As grazing matures and green grazing becomes dryer, the nutritional value of the grazing deteriorates
Protein, in addition to P becomes limiting in maintaining body condition of the breeding animal
Using Trans i t ion l i cks
Move from P only to gradual inclusion of Protein
RDP, urea containing licks
Contains less urea than a winter lick and allows for adaptation
Supply 50-100g of protein and 6-9g of P per day
Limit weight and condition loss
START as soon as P-lick’s intake increases
Trans i t ion l i cks
Ideally feed the Winterlick in combination with Phosphorous;
Pasture will be mature but still green;

Most nutrients are limited in winter grazing
Intake of poor quality grazing is low - unpalatable
Breeding females are pregnant and high nutrient requirements of late gestation coincides with the poor quality of the grazing
Supplement
Energy, Protein, Minerals and Vitamins as a complete ready mix or home mix

Pregnant and lactat ing animals
Cows calved and requires additional nutrients for lactation for which the grazing is inferior before the rain season starts;
When the intake of protein licks start to increase, the switch should be made to a production lick.

CONCLUSION
Grazing is characterized by seasonal nutrient deficiencies;
A three phase lick supplementation program yields good results
1. P
2. P+Protein
3. Production licks
