Note from the Pastor: I have never heard anyone complain about being too thankful. “I just can’t help but be thankful all the time. What’s wrong with me?” No, more often than not the opposite is true, we have problems being as thankful as we should. This is November in which we celebrate Thanksgiving. Let us use this time to increase our thankfulness and the giving of thanks. I know we have to live in the real world and there are many things going on with us and around us that can take our attention away from thanks giving. Even with celebrating Thanksgiving we have issues. For Rebekah and I, our families are in Bryan/College Station which is good that they are both close and we can easily see them. The issue for us around the holidays is when we see our family and how much time we get to spend with each family. Which group do we actually get to spend Thanksgiving day with? Who will be in town when and for how long? Sometimes, many times, we get rushed from one event to the other never getting to fully enjoy any particular outing. Compromise feels more like a lose-lose situation than a win-win situation. All of this can make us more busy rather than making us more thankful. And let us not forget the state of our nation right now. There is so much animosity going around, uncertainty, and hopelessness. The truth of the matter is, there is so much to be thankful for. One of the passages I love is Psalm 136, it starts out like this, “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.” Each verse ends with this statement, “for his steadfast love endures forever.” David had a lot going on in his life and he certainly was not perfect. The one thing he always seemed to do was give thanks to God and set his hope in God. No matter what happens in this world God is still God. We may not understand why some things happen or how God works through it all but we can always be sure that he is God, that he loves us, and that he holds our salvation secure. This month of November we will be talking about the reasons we have to be thankful. Life is not perfect and there are plenty of things going on to complain about but we have a great God who loves and cares for us. Let us use this time of Thanksgiving to remind us to do just that, give thanks. Giving thanks effects our body, soul, and spirit. It helps us to be in right alignment with God, always looking to him rather than the junk around us. God’s love has been poured upon you with grace upon grace and his love for you will never cease. Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks because God is God, and give thanks because there is always something to be thankful for. Blessings, Geoff

Prayer and Meditations Dear Father in heaven, Help me to remember Your mercies given new to me every day. Help me when I am tempted to forsake the work You have left for me to do. –Amen-
God has given us tongues so that we may say something “pleasant” to our fellow human beings.
