Many tourists visit the Cologne Cathederal every year.

Cologne Cathedral My favourite building in Cologne. It is very old and a famous building. There are many stories about its history.

The story of building the old cathedral - which was at the same place as the new cathedral - on “the holy hill of Cologne”

Cologne got a new archbishop. He wanted to have a cathedral in his city to get more importance. Many people came together to dig the hole for the basis. As they dug, they found huge stones formed by humans and saw devils coming out of them and saw them becoming one big devil in the air. They went to the bishop and told him that they could not dig any more. The bishop laughed at them and said they should continue digging. Otherwise they would not get money. They went back, started digging and saw the devils again and came back to the archbishop. After this happened the 4th time, the bishop thought about what to do although he didn't believe in devils. He took very much holy water because devils hate it and went to the holy hill of Cologne. 6 days and nights he walked around this place and spread holy water everywhere until he was sure that everyone in Cologne had seen what he was doing and was sure that there were no devils any more. On the 7th day the archbishop saw the devils and was shocked. But because he had holy water in his hand, the devils could not hurt him. In this moment the wind came and blew the devils to the other side of the Rhine. So now we know: the descendants of the people who were born on the other side of the Rhine are offspring of the devils.

The fifth season of the year-Carnival-

Carnival is a big festival in Cologne. There are many parades, the largest is the one on the fifth day. There are many people who like Carnival but - and that's the bad side - many of them drink too much alcohol.

How to get to school

Most pupils in our class come to school by subway. Some of them are using the same line. One boy is late almost every day. His excuse is always the same: „My train was late“ How come that the pupils who are using the same line are in time?

I`m always riding my bike but some days my bike is faster and sometimes slower. In the morning I am riding through a big park. In the wintertime I am only meeting a few people there - every morning the same, so we say hello to each other. When it rains, all leaves are shining. I like the fog very much, too.

A few meters before the end of my way to school there is an old fort and part of the old Roman wall of Cologne. Now it`s owned by a famous carneval association.
