Objectives: Apply the skills of geographic inquiry (questioning) to analyze a problem or issue of

importance to a region of the Eastern Hemisphere Explain how and why ecosystems differ as a consequence of differences in latitude,

elevation and human activities Describe how human modifications to the environment in North Africa have caused

environmental stress and propose solutions/adaptations to help resolve these public policy issues such as water shortages, desertification, and soil erosion.

Use observations from air photos, photograph, films as the basis for answering geographic questions about the human and physical characteristics of places and regions

Identify places in Eastern Hemisphere (Africa) that have been modified to be suitable for settlement by describing the modifications that were necessary (ex: planting of trees in deforested areas of North Africa)
