WelcomeDear Friends,
Another year of supporting families affected by cancer when they need it most by “Nobodydoing everything, but everyone doing something.” I welcome you to our 4th Annual Life IsSweet Gala. Thank you so much to our volunteers, our attendees and our sponsors. Onceagain, all the gears of the STOMP machine work together to accomplish one main goal andfocus- helping families when they need it most.
As my personal journey with my own monster changes, the need for families fighting thisdisease does exactly the opposite – it doesn’t change. In fact, the need grows. I personallystill meet the people who are the reason we started the STOMP The Monster foundation inthe first place. If you know me, you know it doesn’t take much for me to strike up a conversa-tion – I am always intrigued by a person’s individual story. It is always unique and each storyis inspiring in its own special way. It reinforces the void and the need that our foundationcontinuously tries to fill. STOMP The Monster went from helping one family a week, to a fewfamilies a week, to one family a day and now, due to the selflessness of ALL the wonderfulpeople involved with our organization, a few families a DAY! A few families a day – thinkabout that. STOMP The Monster was formed less than 4 years ago, and it is incredible whathas been accomplished, all because of people wanting to dedicate their time, resources, andenergy for a reason much bigger than themselves.
Tonight you will have the pleasure of meeting our honoree, Marybeth Walz. Marybeth is anintegral part of the community and helping children though her amazing charity, Hope ForChildren Foundation. STOMP The Monster is so proud to present her with the ThomasRosamilia Inspiration Award. Marybeth is the epitome of this award!
I would like to acknowledge the Gala Committee on a high level. I have seen the effort putin from so many different angles. Take a look around tonight and realize that without thecountless hours of dedication, organization, and effort, the Life is Sweet Gala would not bethe seamless, flowing, wonderful event we all know it to be. If you know someone who wasinvolved with the Gala Committee, take a minute and recognize them – let them know whatyou think of the event and thank them for all the time they spent making the Life Is SweetGala the best formal fundraising event around.
I am very close to being three years past my second transplant. There is not a day that goesby that I don’t realize that each day is a gift for me. As the days grow further and furtheraway from my transplant one thing is constant: cancer...there is no on and off switch. As amatter of fact, it is quite the opposite. No doubt there are ups and downs. My hope for everyother person fighting their monster is that there are more UPS than downs, because let’s faceit......Life Is Sweet!
I am so grateful to be able to share this incredibleevening with so many wonderful people.Thank you for being here and enjoy yourevening.
Stomping The Monster,
Seth

individual who exhibits strength and bravery, inspires others, is
grateful and giving, and makes a positive impact on people’s lives.
Thomas Rosamilia (1961-2011)
The world is a better place because of Thomas
Rosamilia. Whether you knew him for years or
just met for a few moments, you knew how
special he was and how your life would be
changed forever. Thomas was a dynamic man.
Every day he witnessed beauty, joy, love, and
limitless potential in everything and everyone.
Even as he struggled through many twists and
turns of his illnesses, he had an inner peace that had a way of putting
everyone he met at ease. His wit, intelligence, and personality drew
people to him. He showed strength and bravery and undoubted faith.
He believed and had little fear. His memory will live on through all the
good deeds done by those he inspired.

The Christian Bocchiaro Volunteer Award goes to the person
whose giving spirit, strength, and love of life permeate every
part of their being. This person has selflessly given time, energy,
and passion to STOMP The Monster, and encapsulates
what volunteering is all about.
Christian R. Bocchiaro (1977-2009)
Everyone knew Christian Bocchiaro by hisbright smile and his contagious laugh. Hiscasual demeanor and great personality madehim everybody’s friend. He was full of energyand passion. Any room brightened as soon ashe entered it. The mood became lighter andthe laughter became louder. He was confidentand loyal. Honest and true blue. Feisty andstrong. He was the first one there to help inany situation, volunteering his handiness, hisfriendship, or his heart wherever it was needed.During Christian's fight with advanced cancer, people rallied aroundhim, just trying to give back one ounce of what he gave them everyday of his life. His nurses felt that Christian was one of a kind, and saidthey never had anyone like him before. His oncologist said that Chris-tian was his favorite patient of all time. Christian never complained, was angry, or asked “Why me?” In typical style, he just faced his chal-lenge head-on. And he never, ever stopped fighting. He showed peo-ple how to take life one day at a time and to try to do something thatmade them happy every single day. He inspired everyone he met tobe a better person with his giving spirit and loving heart.
The Christian Bocchiaro Volunteer Award Honoreeswill be surprised at tonight’s Gala Event.

STOMP The Monster™ is a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization started by SethGrumet, a man battling cancer. While training for his second Ironman Triathlon,Seth began to have unusual fatigue and shortness of breath. An hour after hisCT scan, the doctor’s office called and requested to see Seth immediately. OnTuesday, May 18th, 2010 at 11:48am, Seth called his beautiful wife, Margie andasked her to drive him to see the doctor –
“I just needed her to be there. I got to the doctor's office
and he didn't pull any punches– ‘You have a tumor in your chest
about this big (his fist)’...and that is about all I heard.
He talked to my wife, but I didn't hear anything.
‘This can't be...not me. I am healthy,
I take care of myself...this just can't be...’”
After tests and surgeries to provide viablesamples of the tumor growing in his chest, the diagnosis was in; Seth was battlingHodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Seth was enjoying life, just like you and me,yet his world was turnedupside down in the blinkof an eye.

Business Owner, Ironman, and Future Cancer Survivor.

“Telling my children was not easy. My oldest, Mariah (13),
after a few conversations was nervous, but understood.
My youngest, Stevie (7), was too young to understand, so
I just told him ‘Daddy might not feel good for a few months.’
Maddy (10), my middle child, digested the info my wife
and I gave her and then said ‘Dad, your Cancer is
the Monster under the floorboard...
You just have to STOMP IT OUT!!’ I was blown away.”
Seth has been through the very difficult diag-nosis of cancer, extensive tests, surgeries andchemotherapy. He was fortunate to have fam-ily and friends around him during this crucialtime. While going through countless treat-ments and doctor appointments, he met manypeople in the same situation who unfortu-nately were not getting the same type of sup-port. Since the inception of STOMP TheMonster, countless cancer patients, theirfamilies, and caregivers have been helpedwhen they need it most – during their fight with the disease. STOMPThe Monster assists with things like providing gift cards for gas and groceries, arranging taxi transportation both to and from appointments, providing finan-cial assistance for medication needs, working to get utility bills waived, andhelping with Medigap payments to keep treatments going.
