now.&The&KINGDOM&of&God&is&at&HAND/Near,&repent&and&believe&the&Good&news.”&In&the&original&

language,&that&word&for&TIME&in&Mark&1:15&is&the&word,&KAIROS.&

The&8meline&of&your&life&constantly&brings&GOD&APPOINTED&MOMENTS&where&God&invades&your&world&

and&reveals&Himself&and&His&plans&to&you.&These&special&moments&are&the&8mes&that&the&Kingdom&

books&(but&He&sort&of&did),&or&start&a&university&–&rather,&HE&BUILT&A&FAMILY&around&HIS&rhythms&of&His&

life.&His&pakerns&were&so&PERFECT&that&we&are&s8ll&observing&His&family&rhythms&two&millennia&later.&To&

be&certain,&His&RHYTHM’s&of&life&were&unique.&As&His&family,&we&show&Him&to&the&world&when&we&live&like&

He&lived,&and&when&we&embrace&His&rhythms.&One&of&the&most&obvious&rhythms&Jesus&modeled&for&us&

was&the&rhythm&of&work&and&rest.

Genesis/1&–&We&were&made&on&the&6th&day.&Our&1st&day&was&His&7th&day.&God&created&us&on&the&6th&day&

and&said,&“Now&let’s&set&aside&a&day&to&rest.”&God&did&all&the&work,&and&then&He&invited&us&to&start&our&

lives&in&His&rest.&It&is&a&funny&thing&that&God&didn’t&even&NEED&the&rest,&but&He&chose&rest&because&REST&

is&good&for&us.&God&made&us&to&be&fruipul,&to&mul8ply&and&to&bear&His&image&on&earth.&Fruipul&is&an&

important&word&in&this&passage.&It&certainly&means&we&are&to&procreate,&but&it&also&means&much&more&

than&that.&It&also&implies&fruipulness&in&your&life’s&work.&In&Chapter&2&He&put&the&man&in&the&GARDEN&to&

WORK&the&Garden.&Our&work&is&to&be&fruipul&and&mul8ply.&SWEATY&labor&is&a&result&of&the&Fall&and&part&

of&the&curse,&but&WORK&is&a&blessing&and&a&gi]&from&God.&His&desire&is&that&we&would&experience&

FRUITFUL&work.&&

Human&beings&are&designed&for&FRUITFULNESS.&We&are&designed&to&work&from&rest,&not&to&rest&from&

work.&A]er&a&busy&day&of&being&created,&God&told&us&to&chill&and&hang&out&with&Him.&He&wants&to&do&His&

work&of&RE;CREATION&in&us.

Elijah/^/1/Kings/17/&/18&(The&Beginning&of&Elijah’s&ministry)&People’s&first&experience&of&listening&to&

God&doesn’t&usually&start&with,&“It&isn’t&going&to&rain&for&3&years,&and&it&won’t&start&again&un8l&I&say&so.”&

That&was&Elijah’s&first&prophe8c&ukerance.&Then&God&told&Elijah,&“Go&and&hide.”&Moses&was&sent&to&rest&

represents&the&prophets.&The&pakern&for&Moses&&&Elijah&here&is&REST&&&WORK.&

Jesus’&bap8sm&was&a&preky&amazing&spectacle.&There&was&a&dove,&then&a&voice&–&“YOU&ARE&MY&SON&IN&

WHOM&I&AM&WELL&PLEASED.”&Following&that&moment&the&Spirit&drove&Him&for&6&weeks&into&the&

blissfully&ignorant&life&of&D1.”)&This&is&the&outcry&of&many&in&D2.&&Jesus&would&

have&none&of&it,&and&neither&should&we.&Look&at&Jesus&sending&out&His&

followers.&&In&Luke&9&where&He&sends&the&12&out&and&it&goes&well.&In&Luke&10&

He&sends&the&72&out&and&it&goes&very&well.&In&Luke&11,&Jesus&assaults&the&

Kingdom&of&darkness&present&in&the&Jewish&religion&by&rebuking&prominent&

leaders.&His&Disciples&respond&by&offering&Jesus&advice&saying,&“HOLD&UP,&we&are&scared.&These&guys&

can&kill&us.”&Jesus,&responds&by&clarifying&intensifying&a&more&appropriate&fear,&“Don’t&be&afraid&of&

those&who&can&kill&the&body.&Be&afraid&of&the&ONE&who&can&kill&the&body&and&soul.”&Comfor(ng#Jesus#__#right?&The&enthusiasm&based&on&naivety&is&ALL&GONE.&Jesus&basically&pushed&His&followers&into&the&

pit&of&D2.&THEN,&He&cared&for&them&and&offered&this&thought,&“Fear&not,&the&Father&is&pleased&to&give&
