Many of you are now utilizing the online interactive calendar. If you haven’t logged into our website please go to www.naplesesplanade.com and click on the member tab to log in. Once on the member side of the website, you will find valuable resources and contact information. In addition, we have added the member directory, events calendar, member statements and court bookings for tennis. All members are able to opt into the member directory. This is a great way to share as much or as little information as you wish with your fellow neighbors.
We are happy to promote our Concierge Services as part of your inspired lifestyle here at Naples Esplanade! This program includes pet services, hotel accommodations, mobile detailing, dry cleaning and more. To find out more information on this program be sure to check out our concierge tab on our member website or reach out to your Lifestyle Manager.

Greetings, Esplanade Residents!
Summer continues to slide on by and what a summer it’s been! I’m watching some of the fabulous online streaming coverage of the 2016 Olympics in Rio as I write this letter, and continue to marvel at the fabulous technology we have available to us these days. Whether it’s watching sporting events online, or looking for a new dining venue near your beautiful new home in Esplanade in Naples, all the information you want is right there at your fingertips. It’s so easy to take advantage of that technology and go to our Naples Esplanade Facebook page to check out the most recent pictures of the amenities construction progress. Or go to the Esplanade website calendar at www.NaplesEsplanade.com for upcoming events, to locate a phone number in the interactive member directory, book a tee time or tennis court, and even check out the most recent club financials. It’s all there for your convenience. Construction continues on the new club amenities, and we remain on schedule to open the facilities in the 4th quarter of 2016. The facilities, including the Wellness Center, Bahama Bar, lagoon-style pool, bocce courts, fire-pits, beach area, yoga and event lawns will all open up at the same time for the upcoming season. Having seen our sister property in Bradenton, Florida, Esplanade at Lakewood Ranch, with almost identical facilities, I can assure everyone they are indeed quite beautiful, and in regular use by many of the residents. We’ll keep everyone posted on our opening timeline, and of course, notify the community in anticipation of any upcoming special events. It won’t be long now! While September and Labor Day mark the end of summer and the beginning of Fall for the rest of our nation, they serve Southwest Florida as notice of the final quiet month of the off-season, and mark the impending return of the annual snowbirds who start returning to the area in October. Having said that, there’s still plenty of time to enjoy upcoming events and beautiful summer weather, so enjoy your favorite activities this month, and look forward to seeing your seasonal friends very soon! Finally, while we enjoy the relaxing off-season and end of summer, we’re all very excited for the return of our seasonal residents, and the upcoming grand opening of our long anticipated amenities facilities. The upcoming calendar of events looks fantastic, and we’re all going to be making new friends as more and more homes close in the months ahead. In closing, enjoy the remainder of the summer. Health Benefits of Tennis: Why Play Tennis?
By Jack L. Groppel, Ph.D. Its historic moniker has been the “sport for a lifetime”. But is this really true? According to world-renowned scientists from
a variety of disciplines, there is no doubt that tennis is one of the best sports for you to play.
Here are the facts: 1. People who participate in tennis 3 hours per week (at moderately vigorous intensity) cut their risk of
death in half from any cause, according to physician Ralph Paffenbarger who studied over 10,000 people over a period of 20 years.
2. Tennis players scored higher in vigor, optimism and self-esteem while scoring lower in
depression, anger, confusion, anxiety and tension than other athletes and non-athletes according to Dr. Joan Finn and colleagues at Southern Connecticut State University.
3. Since tennis requires alertness and tactical thinking, it may generate new connections between
nerves in the brain and thus promote a lifetime of continuing development of the brain, reported scientists at the University of Illinois.
4. Tennis outperforms golf, inline skating and most other sports in developing positive personality
characteristics according to Dr. Jim Gavin, author of The Exercise Habit.
5. Competitive tennis burns more calories than aerobics, inline skating, or cycling, according to studies on caloric expenditures.

Well, the light at the end of summer’s tunnel is in sight. Historically, September is both the hottest and slowest month of the summer. We, in the Golf Shop, are anxiously awaiting the end of summer so we can implement our new schedule and see the return of all of our ‘snowbird’ members.
In the meantime, we do have some upcoming events during the month of September to make you aware of. Our Labor Day tournament will be held on Monday, September 5th with an 8:30 am shotgun. You may sign up online at www.naplesesplanade.com or by calling the Golf Shop at 239-494-8020. You are welcome to make your own foursome or sign up as a twosome (or individually) and we will do our best to set you up with a team. The format for this fun-filled event will be as follows: Holes 1-6 Two Best Balls of Four; Holes 7-12 Shamble; Holes 13-18 Scramble. We will have a social event following golf at a yet-to-be-decided location which will be determined by participation levels.
We also have our final summer aerification scheduled for Monday, September 12th through Wednesday, September 14th. While aerification leaves the golf course in not-so-desirable condition, it is a necessary practice for the overall health and longevity of our number one asset. Please bear with us as we continue this routine maintenance throughout the summer months. During aerification, the golf course and all practice facilities will be closed. The Golf Shop will remain open each day of the closure from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm to help with scheduling reciprocals and for any other golf-related issues. Because the golf course will be closed, we have secured a healthy list of area clubs who will offer reciprocity to our members. This list is available on the club’s website at www.naplesesplanade.com and in hard copy form inside the Golf Shop. To take advantage of reciprocals, we ask that our members fill out a Reciprocal Request Form (also available on the website) and turn it in to Golf Shop staff up to 7 days in advance. Should you prefer to email your request, please be sure to include the following email addresses: [email protected] and [email protected]. This will ensure that your request is received in a timely manner. Golf Shop staff will attempt to secure your reciprocal times as far in advance as the reciprocating club will allow. Please be as specific as possible when filling out your requests as staff will not vary from what is listed on your Request Form. To find out which course and tee time your group has booked, please call the Golf Shop at 239-494-8020 and a member of the Professional Staff will assist you.

With the opening of the new Wellness & Fitness Center right around the corner we have been busy looking at active wear and other new merchandise to complement our facility. Our new signature scent of Coconut Lime Verbena will be available in Esplanade logoed candles, room sprays and other “scentsational” items for your home. Club t-shirts will be available and an array of other new merchandise will be introduced to enhance your lifestyle at Esplanade Golf & Country Club.
As we grow I look forward to meeting all the new and existing members and getting to hear from you about your expectations for merchandise in your interim Pro Shop and the New Wellness & Fitness Center.

Dear Esplanade Residents,
It has been very hot this summer, lots of thunderstorms almost every afternoon with high humidity. For those of you that are here all summer I hope you have had a chance to enjoy the walking trail, golf or tennis before the afternoon thunderstorms roll in!
As a result of the multiple thunderstorms we have had, lightning in the area has caused a few outages with the street lights on Esplanade Blvd and particularly Savona Court. The components that have failed due to the lighting in the area have been replaced and we are confident the issues have been resolved. However if you see a light or group of lights out during the night please report these lights to your CAM so that we can service them as soon as possible. We appreciate your help!
Beginning in the last quarter of this year I will be implementing a new landscaping replacement program that will occur every quarter going forward. It will consist of only replacing plants, trees and bushes that have died or are clearly not going to survive. The landscaping company will do a walkthrough of every home in the community and make a list for the manager to review and approve. From the time that we conduct the walk through, to actually replacing the plants will be approx. 4-7 weeks. You may report any plants that have died directly to me and it will be placed on a list to be given to the landscaping company. All plants will be replaced at the same time. Our first walkthrough this year will begin in the beginning of September in start of the new season. This will give us a head start on the last quarter of the year and we will continue through the following year beginning on, January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.
