KONE MiniSpace™Gearless Machine in a

Compact Machine roomUsing the revolutionary KONE EcoDisc® machine,

Kone created a Gearless Machineroom solution called

KONE MiniSpace™ in 1997. The machineroom space

required is just equal to the shaft area. This gearless

solution has since become an industry standard in its

class. When selecting your elevator platform KONE

can offer you several alternative solutions. We can help

you analyze the transportation requirements in each

project and recommend and ideal elevator system.

KONE MiniSpace™ platform solution is available upto

63 Floors and 180 metres travel and can transport

upto 1800kg and run upto 4m/s speed. KONE

MiniSpace™ solutions are available for upto 8 car

groups and the group control solutions meet the

intense traffic demand of the modern buildings.

KONE MiniSpace™ machineroom is an extension of

the shaft itself and is easy to construct. It is amazing to

see how littel space is required in the machine room

with this technology , where as the bulky geared ma-

chines occupy lot of space.

KONE EcoDisc® - gearless

energy miracleIn 1996, we assumed the technology leadership in

the elevator industry by developing the KONE

EcoDisc® hoisting machine. The current 3rd

generation KONE EcoDisc® has gone through

10 years of quality improvements – constantly

increasing the application range, reliability, and ride

comfort.

KONE EcoDisc® is the core technology of all our

gearless elevators. It employs a permanent magnet

synchronous motor, frequency control, and low

friction gearless construction.

A reliable machine

The KONE EcoDisc® is a low revving gearlessmotor with extremely low levels of wear. It

incorporates a axial permanent magnet rotor that

constitues the single moving part.

More efficient than tradiotanl machines

In traditional machines the worm gear typically has

less than 60% efficiency which results in use of higher

KW motor and more power is consumed for every

trip. The KONE EcoDisc® needs less starting current,

consumes less power and needs no oil. Less starting

current means a smaller back-up generator which

saves costs. KONE EcoDisc® means savings in

running energy costs.

The cost-saver

Significant cost savings are achieved by the use of

lower duty risers and fuses, made possible by a peak

starting current of just 30 to 40 percent of equivalent

traction units.

Monitoring Solutions

From providing information to your Building Manage-ment System to dedicated, sophisticated monitoring

including traffic, status and diagnostics , Kone offers

several solutions for the needs of monitoring and

supervision of the elevators in the building.

KONE E-Link™ can collect data from many eleva-

tors and escalators in the building and display it in

several central locations or make it available on your

LAN network. The system has configurable screens to

enable its usage for standby operators or maintenancepersons or management providing essential informa-

tion like alaram, position, status, fault data, starts etc.

Glass and Scenic Cars

Kone Scaffoldless Installation and Kone Jump Lift are

important tools available to match the safety,speed

and staging requirements of high rise projects. Many

times the elevators become the critical path in the

building project as the lobby cannot be completed

unless the elevators are in place or the entrances are

finished which becomes a bigger issue when the riseis more. Kone Scaffoldless installation uses man riding

special purpose hoists and builds the rails and en-

trances first to allow other building works to progress

in parallel removing the elevator from the critical

chain. This also allows for staged installation so that

the installation work can start much earlier when the

rise is very high.

KONE JumpLift™ is a revolutionary concept that

allows the lift to work for the lower rise even as the

building is still going up. When the higher rise is finished , it takes a very short time to move the eleva-

tor up and get it to work. In these days when time is

money KONE has the solutions to meet your need.

Group Control SolutionsModern high rise towers need efficient people flow

solutions. In the recent times car parks, restaurants,

coffee shops, gymnasiums, meeting rooms, confer-

nece halls and the like in the building have become

common and each make a demand on the people

flow solution. It is also typical to bring people in

buses and when several buses come together there

is an intense up peak in the morning. Location of the

cafeteria many times adds to the problems of traffic

not to speak of water cans and lunch vying for space.

Kone offers professional help with the traffic planning

at a very early stage and has many tools to make the

right choice considering the environment in depth.

KONE also has group control solutions which are the

best in the industry. The elevators are connected

through a CAN network and have embedded pro-

grams that allow them to work as a group and even

if an elevator is taken out of the group the system will

work without a hitch. When there are more than 4

elevators in a group, Kone’s PC based group control

TMS9900GA is offered with Genetic Algorithm to

enable Multi Target Optimisation. The system nowcan work to increase handling capacity during up

peak, while during light traffic it can save energy and

other times can work to make the shortest journey

time or keep always fewer people in car for comfort.

The artificial intelligence in the group control with its

Traffic Forecaster is able to detect call and passenger

information over a period , anticipate people flow and

adapt accordingly.

For situations where the most efficient artificial intel-

ligence is still not the answer Kone provides after

careful study of the people flow, solutions based on its

Polaris and Polaris Pro range. These destination based

allocation systems, armed with more information,

can improve handling capacity without sacrificing the

waiting time during quiter traffic. In particular the

hybrid system with Kone’s Polaris has been seen as a

effective solution for many demanding up peak situ-

ations and the familiarity of the conventional system

and the effectiveness of the destination based systems

are put to best use.

KONE Polaris™ series contains new solutions that ena-

bles easy access for the Handicapped , simpler usage

when groups of people travel together, use of a free

elevator for transport and for access card usage etc.
