Lifting The Car

Once upon a time there was an Old Man fixing his precious car. The Old Man tried to start the car but the car was still asleep. He lifted the bonnet and saw there was a loose bolt. He walked quickly over to his tool box and got a spanner.

He kept turning and turning the bolt until it was so tight that the spanner jumped out of his hand and under the car. The Old Manʼs hands clung to the bottom of the car and started to lift. His voice started to sing:

“Lift,LiftLift and ShoutSoon the spanner Will come out.”He got stuck and could not lift any more so he called Old Lady. They both got their hands under the car and said:

“Lift,LiftLift and ShoutSoon the spanner Will come out.”

They both got stuck and could not lift any more so they called the Neighbourʼs son. So the Old Man, The Old Lady and the Neighbourʼs Son all lifted and they said

“Lift,LiftLift and ShoutSoon the spanner Will come out.”

All of them got stuck so the Neighbourʼs Son went and got his dog. The Old Man, The Old Lady, The Neighbourʼs Son and his dog got their hands and paws under the car and started to lift. The Old Man, The Old Lady, The Neighbourʼs Son and his Dog said:

“Lift,LiftLift and ShoutSoon the

spanner Will come out

All of them got stuck so the Neighbourʼs Sonʼs Dog went and got his Brother. The Old Man, The Old Lady, The Neighbourʼs Son, The Neighbourʼs Dog and his Brother got their hands and paws under the car and started to lift. The Old Man, The Old Lady, The Neighbourʼs Son, The Neighbourʼs Dog and his Brother all said:

“Lift,LiftLift and ShoutSoon the spanner Will come out.”

After that they were able to hold the car up for long enough that the Old Man got the spanner and never used it again.
