Criterion: safety class

Ø In general, there are 2 different safety categories:

Criterion: Resolution

Ø Basically, there are 3 differentkinds of protections ØFinger protection ...Ø... Corresponds to a resolution of 14 mm

ØHand protection ...Ø... Corresponds to a resolution of 30 mm

ØBodily protection...Ø... Corresponds to a resolution of

more than 30 mm


Criterion: Response time

Ø Response time is the time in which a safeguarding equipmentØdirectly refers to the distance

between the light curtain and the dangerous area

PSDIØ Presens Sensing device intitationØThe cycle control enable an automatic

restart after a specific number of penetrations (strokes) of the safety light curtain protection field without pressing a start push button.


Ø Blanking is the controlled disabling of light beams, whereas the remaining beams still offer protection.

Ø There are different blanking modes:ØFixed Blanking

e.g. if a hose or a feeder is permanently present at the same spot in the protective field

ØFloating Blankinge.g. if a work piece is moved through the protective field or if a height-adjustable table is placed into the protective field.

Muting

Ø Muting is the safe by-pass of a safety device.

Ø In general, the necessary assembly consists of a safety light curtain,several sensors for detecting, and a controller.
