I II. ASSEMELY

Insert contact pins of the Aligninq the su~de bulb into socket and

ring pin to the nolch, clamp WI th b~ l b clamplnq lnsert the socked. levers. (Beforr? use, wipe

off any fingerprints or stains on bulb.)

Lamp house '4? Connect low voltage Bulb clamp- cord to transformer. Ing lever

Screw the knurled sing

into microscope. tT; Connen line cord to AC Power otrtlet. (Before con-

Ground transformer nectfon, rnake sure that rnain SWI tch IS off . )

NOTE: When maln sw~tch IS turned on or of f a t high voltage with a defective bulb atlached. or without attaching any bulb in place, fuse may sornetirnes be burned out for protection of electrlc c~rcuit. Th 1s does not mean any electric trouble In that case, attach a fresh bulb or replace defective bulb with a new one.

IV. OPERATION

A. Bulb centration

Model AH-LSH

1. Flrst, make sure that the swing-out frosled glass a t the I ~ g h t cxrt on the rvlcroTr.opp base is disengaged, and that the swing-out auxiliary lens inslde the hasp IS In the lrght path {lever in vertical position).

2. Inser t thecenter ingfrostedglass(providedtothe~n~croscope)~ntothef~l tern iountat

the light exi t .

3. Ascertaining that the voltaqe adjustment knob 1s positioned to t h ~ ! rnlntmilrrl vultaqe, turn on the main $witch of Ihe transforrrier and the pilot I~qh l I S on.

4. Adjust light intens~ty by the voltage adjusrment knob.

5. Turn the collector lens fclcuslng screw to the right or left, so that the l~larnent can he easlly recognized.

6. Center the filament image by loosening the socket clamp~ng screw and sl~dtnq the socket back and forth, Or rotating ~t r;lockwi~e or c ~ t . l n t ~ r c l ~ ~ k w i $ ~ ! slightly

I . Swmg the objective TOX In light path.

2. Set the highllow magnification selector lever of the vertical illurninator (provided to

the microscope) to position "H"

3. Ascertaining that the voltage adjust men? knob rs positioned to the rn~nirnum voltage, switch on the transformer and the pilot l~ght is on.

4. Adjust light intensity by the voltage adjustment knob

5. Push the light path selector lever all t h ~ way, and brrng the specirnen Into focus.

6. Remove the eyepiece from the observat~on tube, and look into the tube

7. Look~ng at the image of bulb filament at the back focal plane of the object tve, center i t by loosening the socket clarnping screw, s l ~ d ~ n g the socket back and forth, or rotating i t clockwise or C O U R ~ ~ ~ C ~ O F ~ W ~ S ~ sl ~ghrly.

8. After cornpletinq the centration, re-insert the eyepiece in to the observation tube.

NOTE: Turn the collectar lens focusing screw to the right or left until ~llurnination irregularities are minimized, if any. Whenever bulb is replaced, make it sure to center a replacement bu Ib.

B. Brightfield observation

After completing the bulb centration, start your observation following the instruction manual for the Model VANOX.

C. Darkf ied and fluorescence observation

For dark f ield and fluorescence observation with the interference filters Model FlTC (optionally available fforn OTyrnptlsl, remove the frosted glass.

r'3 Bulb replacement

1. Switch off the transformer

2. Loosen the socket clamping screw and remove the socket.

3. Loosen thebulbclampinglevers,andreplacethedefect ivebulbwitha.~~p~acement

NOTE: Wipe off thoroughly any fingerprints or stains on a bulb before use. - 5 * - * * - 7

0 Bulb life

When continuously used at 12V, the average Fife of this halogen bulb lasts 50 hours. This durability is, however, greatly reduccd, tf thc bulb is used at higher voltages or when a stained bulb is used. On the contrary, at the voltage lower than 1 ZV, far instance a t 10V, the bulb I ife is prolonged by about 10 times, and a t 8V, about 70 times. Therefore, it is recommended to

use the bulb at lower voltages as well as possible.

0 Fuse replacement .. ... . - - . . , ::,:-:- -,

1 . Disconnec~ the line cord from t h e AC power outlet.

2. Unscrew the cap of fuse holder and replace the defective fuse with a replacement fuse.

NOTE: Although the transformer is insulated, it should be grounded to avoid any electric accident.
