Lighthouse Ministry
July Newsletter
Dear Friends,
What an honor it is to be called chil-
dren of God! When I contemplate this
thought, I am humbled that despite my
shortcomings, God is willing to cleanse me
of my sins, and use me in His kingdom! I
am blessed to be counted worthy of the
High Calling of Jesus Christ (Philippians
3:14). Of all the creatures in heaven and
earth, He chose us to be His sons and
daughters. He chose us to carry out the
Great Commission found in Ma-hew
28:18-20
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has
been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19
Go therefore and make
disciples of all the na ons, bap zing them in the name of the Fa-
ther and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20
teaching them to ob-
serve all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. “
Some2mes we lose sight of what is important in life, for-
ge3ng our purpose, and our goals. We have been commissioned
by an Almighty God, to not only share with those around us the
good news of the Gospel, but also to bap2ze and disciple them.
This is a life-long journey, and one which should be at the core of
our being! Bap2sm is an outward sign of an inward change. It is a
public statement that Jesus has washed our sins away, the old man
is dead, and we are born again a new man in Christ Jesus! This is
great news, worthy of proclaiming, celebra2ng, and living out! The
world needs to know what our purpose is. They need to see that
Jesus is alive and ac2ve in us! Our society has been deceived into
thinking other things are more important.
I recently read a quote from Leonard Ravenhill which said,
“On the Tombstone of America, the inscrip2on will read: They en-
tertained themselves to death.” Our society is saturated in enter-
tainment, and is always searching to find some new and exci2ng
way to not only capture the a-en2on of people, but to make a
generous profit while doing so. These distrac2ons used to be lim-
ited to things like televisions and comic books, but now it is all
around us, including our phones, our cars, houses, restaurants, and
more! The distrac2ons are so many that it is important to occasion-
ally “unplug,” and make sure priori2es are where they need to be.
Let us not forget our purpose. May we not be living in the moment,
but focused on the goal ahead. The purpose of this life is to be wit-
nesses. How many which we come in contact do we let go by with-
out ever u-ering a word about Christ? Does the world around us
know that we love Jesus? Has it been told to them that Jesus loves
them too?
July is a fun month around Lighthouse! We have our annual
church picnic in the Lyons park. This year, it is taking place on July
16th. This is a great 2me of fellowship with great food, games, and
conversa2ons. That same week kicks off Vaca2on Bible School,
Monday through Thursday July 17-20. I am always amazed as I see
the members of our church come together to serve, celebrate and
teach. One of our greatest joys is to see these young people come
to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! That following Sunday, July
23, we have our annual bap2sm. During the bap2sm, we see those
who take the opportunity to fulfill step two of the Great Commis-
sion by being bap2zed. This is open to all ages, and is an important
part of our faith. Many have never taken this step. If that includes
you, I encourage you to talk to Pastor Zentner and join us this year!
It is a joyous occasion when someone is bap2zed into the kingdom!
We are reminded in Scripture that a good tree bears good
fruit. Good fruit is among other things the saving of souls into the
kingdom. It is important that we make it our priority to be witness-
es to those whom we come in contact. I encourage you to already
be in prayer for the students a-ending VBS to be prepared to make
a life decision. Also, with one month remaining un2l our bap2sm,
may we be challenged to share the Gospel with those around us
every day and let it be our goals to celebrate with them as they
proclaim Jesus as Lord in the bap2sm pool!!
God Bless!
