Description of the Project

This design shows the lighting and switching layout of a a 200 sq. meter single story residential house. It also includes the illuminance level of each room and the design of the luminaries that will be use on different parts of the house. It is also show the computation of the calculux and zonal cavity method.

Illuminance levels selected for each room/area

Living Area - 150 lux

Dining Area – 150 lux

Kitchen – 500 lux

Master Bedroom – 150 lux

Bedroom 1 – 200 lux

Bathroom - 150 lux

Laundry – 150 lux

Garage – 150 lux

Selection and Description of Luminaires

For Living Room: (Zonal Cavity Method)

Average maintained illuminance: 150 lux

SELECTION OF LIGHT LOSS FACTOR

Non recoverable Luminaire ambient temperature

= 0.80

Voltage to luminaire = 0.95

Ballast factor = 0.88

Luminaire surface depreciation = 1.00

Total LLF = 0.80 x 0.95 x 0.88 x 1.00 x 0.98 x 0.85 x 0.90 x 0.92

Total LLF = 0.46

Recoverable Room surface dirt depreciation =

0.98

Lamp lumen depreciation = 0.85

lamp burnout factor = 0.90

Luminaire dirt depreciation = 0.92

Calculations

Average Maintained Illuminance

No. of luminaire = (Illuminance x Area) /

(Lumens per luminaire x CU x LLF)

vv = 150 lux (3.7m x 5.4m) / (3580 lm per luminaire x 0.75 x 0.464 x2lamp per luminaire)

= 1.2

= 2 luminaires

ILLUMINANCE

Illuminance = No. of luminaire x lumen per luminaire x CU x LLF x lamp per luminaire / Area

= 2 x 3580 x 0.75 x 0.46 x 2/ 3.7 x 5.4

= 249.4

= 250 lux
