"Like ends, means must be ethical, shouldconform to character and be within law."

NM is deeply committed to the values that he upholds steadfastly. To this teetotaler, vegetarianism and simplicity are not habits but values that he wedded to. This spirit and ethics pervade his business and personal life. He has been a Member of the Legislative Assembly thrice; has launched diverse business ventures; is hailed as an industrial giant. And he has remained unstained by any controversy.

His consciousness is sculpted in Gandhian thought, his soul suffused in Saint Vallalar's philosophy, his intellect chiseled in Thiruvalluvar's couplets and his mind sweeps through various elevating pursuits. A conscientious citizen, he feels that he is not an owner but a trustee of everything in his purview.

Ask him, ' what is the essence of your years of emotional and intellectual understanding'' his answer is straight and simple.

In life, means are as important as the end.

He applies the same principles in his personal and professional life and channelled them into a unique methodology.

1. A person must have strong personal character and values

2. He should apply these values in his business endeavours also

3. There should not be any conflict between personal ethics and business pursuits.

4. If indeed there is a disharmony, the individual and his business will suffer.

He has always practised what he has professed. He never took up any business venture that involved meat or liquor.

Furthermore, he never pursued any business for the sake of profit alone. He always works within the framework of law. For instance, when he was entrenched in politics, he had information for bifurcating passenger division but willingly surrendered all the buses to the Government.

It is very important to note that there has not been any incident of penalty imposed on him by any statutory authority.

" Abide by the law. It is possible to be ethical and be successful in business."

Four men grew up together in a little village in India. Three of the men were scholars, but the fourth man never studied anything. In fact, he had never read a book in his life. He just got along as best as he could on his own common sense. But the four men had been friends as children, and they remained friends despite their differences.

One day, the four friends were sitting under the tree talking of this and that when one of the scholars said, “Something has been bothering me. I have spent all my life studying, and I know many things, but I know them only from books. I don't know if my knowledge works, out in the world.”

“You know,” said another of the scholars, “the same thing has been bothering me! But somehow, this little village doesn't seem to offer the scope for me to try out my vast knowledge.”

“Clearly,” said the third scholar, “we must travel out into the world and try out our knowledge there.” The other scholars agreed, but then there was their friend. They had always done everything together, share and share alike, but suppose...suppose they found some lost treasure by using their knowledge? Suppose they solved a problem for a rajah and he rewarded them with gold and jewels? They had studied late into the night to prepare themselves for this work, and their friend had done nothing. He only had common sense, and which rajah would be impressed with that? They argued this back and forth, as they so enjoyed doing, but finally they decided to do as they had always done, share and share alike.

And so they started on their journey. They walked along for many days, and one day they saw some bones scattered by the path. One of the scholars said, “I can tell from my studies that these bones are the bones of a lion. Now it so happens that I have learnt how to arrange the bones as they would be in a living lion.”

Talented Scholars and the Lion…“Really?” said the second scholar, that is interesting—for it so happens that from my studies I know how to clothe the bones with flesh and blood and skin and fur.”

“Indeed?” said the third scholar. “How curious. It so happens that I know the next step. Once the animal is formed, I know how to breathe life into it. Clearly, this is the place where we should try out our knowledge to see if it works in the world.” The others agreed.

The fourth man, the one who wasn't a scholar, was simply struck dumb by this display of learning and didn't say anything at all.

So the first scholar stepped forward and arranged the bones as they would be in a living lion. Then he stepped back, and the second scholar stepped forward and clothed the bones with flesh, and blood, and skin, and fur. Then he stepped back, and the third scholar stepped forward, about to breathe life into the animal, when the fourth man said “Wait! That's a lion! That's a lion you are about to bring to life. It could eat us up! Stop! Think what you're doing!”

“We know what we're doing,” said the scholars. “We have studied this all our lives. Don't worry. Just leave everything to us.”

“Well, all right,” said their friend, “but...could you wait till I climb a tree?” “Certainly,” said the scholars, and they waited till their friend had climbed a convenient tree. Then the third scholar went back to the procedure of breathing life into the animal. And sure enough, the lion started breathing, opened its eyes, looked at the three scholars, sprang upon them, and ate them up.

After the lion had gone away, the fourth man, the one who wasn't a scholar, climbed down from the tree and made his way back to the village, taking with him no great treasure of gold and jewels, but only his own common sense.

Talent, is indeed like common sense – you have it, or you do not have it.

Problem solvingOne fine day, a bus driver went to the bus garage, started his bus, and drove off along the route. No problems for the first few stops-a few people got on, a few got off, and things went generally well. At the next stop, however, a big hulk of a guy got on. Six feet eight, built like a wrestler, arms hanging down to the ground. He glared at the driver and said, "Big John doesn't need to pay!" and sat down at the back.

Did I mention that the driver was five feet three, thin, and basically meek? Well, he was. Naturally, he didn't argue with Big John, but he wasn't happy about it. The next day the same thing happened-Big John got on again, made a show of refusing to pay, and sat down. And the next day, and the one after that and so forth.

This grated on the bus driver, who started losing sleep over the way Big John was taking advantage of him. Finally he could stand it no longer. He signed up for body building courses, karate, judo, and all that good stuff.

By the end of the summer, he had become quite strong; what's more, he felt really good about himself. So on the next Monday, when Big John once Again got on the bus and said, "Big John doesn't pay!," The driver stood up, glared back at the passenger, and screamed, "And why not?" With a surprised look on his face, Big John replied, "Big John has a bus pass."

Lesson:" Be sure! What is a problem in the first place before working hard to solve one?" Quite often in life we over-evaluate the problems and start working on huge solutions spending time, money, efforts, energy and focus, whereas, in actual, problems eventually are not that much big!

When you bring on new team members, it's important to carefully and deliberately integrate them into the group. Otherwise, newcomers can feel isolated or become marginalized. Make everyone feel more comfortable by:

➣Preparing your group for new arrivals. Discuss in advance why it's valuable to include people with different perspectives and skills. Make sure that the new members' roles are clear to everyone.

➣Matching newcomers with seasoned mentors. When new hires have an experienced person to turn to it helps them acclimate to the team more quickly and better understand the workflow.

➣Making meaningful introductions. Existing team members may already know one another's skills, interests, and styles, but making purposeful introductions and encouraging the sharing of that information with new members can help everyone bond.

Welcome the New team members

Hearty Congratulations

My dear Readers,

Globally, Governments, companies and organizations are vying with each other to develop their Management and Business Skills. Various strategies are being chalked out.

Business leaders measure productivity by the quality and quantity of output over input. Management has a big part in any business. Managements decide, implement actions, and take control. The professional skills and roles of managers are important to be adapted and put into practice not only by business people but all people who want to do and be more productive everyday.

Lifehack Productivity recommends, 10 Management and Business Skills, everyone in all organizations should learn to be more productive.

1. Prioritize tasks: Lining up your daily tasks can be one of the effective ways to be productive. Focus on what is important by asking what are the things needed to be done first or by measuring the value of each task needed to be accomplished. It is essential to assess the things needed first to finish the right job at the right time.

2. Manage time properly: Get an early start. Doing things now instead of later is the ultimate secret that business people use to get more done, providing a schedule and record to help them track their activities and progress during the day. They reward themselves with a break that is short enough to avoid wasting time but long enough to refresh and clear their minds.

3. Know when to say 'yes' and when to say 'no': “I nourish myself by saying “no” when I mean no, and “yes” when I mean yes. I know what I want.”

What keeps people from saying 'yes' instead of 'no' (when they mean 'no') is the fear of losing opportunities. In some cases, there are people that don't want to be rude to others and make others feel rejected, so they take the responsibility. But, it is all up to you. Come to think of it, everyone has their own desires and priorities in life. There is nothing wrong with saying 'no' to the things you don't want and you are no longer interested in doing, as long as saying it will do no harm to others.

4. Begin with the end in mind: Business people have a clear picture of the goals they desire to achieve or to have at the end of the day, week, month or even year. It helps them focus more on important concerns. It also involves the idea of “believing in yourself” that you can do it. Efficient and timely strategies can lead to successfully achieving the goal. Nothing happens in waiting for things to come your way, so the most important step is to make it happen.

5. Keep on learning and finding new ways: Knowledge can be found everywhere. It is not only something people can get in school/college, but is also acquired through their personal experiences. Productive business people look for hobbies that will encourage their learning everyday. They explore. They are open to new great things that could help them grow mentally, physically, and emotionally.

6. Allocate resources efficiently: In business terms, resource allocation is the proper assignment and management of scarce resources to effectively support an organization's goals. Management knows how to maximize their time and power (to create and accomplish more productive things everyday). They learn to value what they have today and create wise actions out of it, because not all things will be present at all times.

7. Use the right tools to stay productive: Productive tools can improve the level of productivity and maximize efficiency while working. Mobile phones, are obviously essential when dealing with your team, for example, in group projects, since it can bridge the gaps of communication with the members. With the rise of technology, productivity applications on mobile devices are highly useful and powerful and helps business people keep track of daily agendas and increase their productivity level.

8. Live for today: “Work smarter, not harder.” Productive people normally dwell on things they have yet to achieve, but they always have breaks intended to appreciate life and to focus in the 'now.' They avoid worrying about things regarding the future that can ruin the day.

9. Deal with the unexpected: Unexpected events can come anywhere, at any time, to anyone. People prepare for the worst. They learn to keep everything in mind to deliver a quick & meaningful response.

10. Get organized: Like beauty, organization comes from within. It has to start within oneself before other people can actually see it. Organized people know how to keep everything in its proper place. They carry a journal and love to make lists. They are busy categorizing so everything will fall into place.

With Best wishes,

Editorially yours,

I saw the April 2015 PDF version of Kriyasakthi Magazine in SFL website. Wanted to share my humble feedback on that.

The coverage on former Chairman Sri N Mahalingam was excellent. The photos added extra value to it.

1. Honoring staff who helped in mobilizing Rs.100 crs NCD was really good. It will help the staff to get motivated to a greater extent.

2. Matrix on Changing Marketing Mix was good.

3. Amazing facts about the brain was top class and very informative.

4. Dos and Don'ts on using Debit / Credit card was very informative.

5. Questions on Forgiveness IQ was of top quality, which is very relevant in the current day corporate scenario.

I would like to say a thank you for adding me to your list of readers. I would like to say that stories of Ratan Tata's experience and snippets on employee behavior and employee-boss working relationship has been a big learning curve for me. I thank you for your untiring efforts as well as those involved in bringing out the Kriyasakthi. It is definitely a high impact read and one that is rich in quality.

Kriyasakthi has always remained a magazine of great substance. The latest issue is no exception. So much of wisdom and worldly knowledge couched in lucid and simple language.

What takes the cake in the May issue are Ratan Tata's tweet, From the Editor's Desk on "Building Positive Attitude at work",and Confidence Building . The stories on self-control and Belief in God were interesting. Overall, it is an interesting and eminently enjoyable digest of information. Kudos to you and your editorial team for the great efforts.

Thanks for sharing KS- May-2015.

Your writeup "Bosses are of 3 Types" is timely and worth reading. Do we have such versions of bosses nowadays ? Though the existing bossism is of despotic and aggressive nature, no doubt, situations warrant such style of functioning, at times. Beware !! Silent seas never produce skillful sailors !!

Keep sending KS. Kudos to your Editorial ship.

The Ultimate Habit of Happiness

Do you think happiness is a state that only a few can achieve? I think Happiness is your birth right, it is available to each and every one of us. But if this is true why does it elude so many? It eludes so many of us because our habits don't support a life of harmony and h a ppiness. I have heard it said that our c o l l e c t i v e habits determine the quality of our lives, in that case we need to ensure that our habits are positive and help us work towards creating an overall habit of happiness There are many constructive habits that will help bring us more joy

The Act of Gratitude

Any time you spend giving thanks and appreciating all that you have in life is time that will be misery free. It is very difficult to feel low or depressed when feeling grateful.

Doing what you love

Spending each day doing what you love will ensure a more meaningful life. According to Scott Dinsmore, of Live Your Legend, in his TEDX talk How to Find and Do Work You Love 80% of people work in jobs they don't enjoy.

Exercise

Exercise has a multitude of benefits, health, well being, mood, increases energy and helps you to sleep better. Fit people are more productive and generally happier.

Living in the Moment

Practicing the art of mindfulness is another sure-fire way to be happier. Living in the moment eradicates any future worries or past regrets.

Helping others

Another tried and tested manner to create more happiness, giving is just as powerful as receiving. Those who live helping others have a greater sense of purpose and live more meaningful lives.

Nurturing Positive Thoughts

So many people forget that their thoughts are within their own control and allow negative thoughts to overtake their minds. If you want to live a happy and successful life you cannot afford a negative thought.

Smiling

Apparently smiling releases serotonin, a chemical that makes us happy. Smiling even when we don't really feel it will have the same effect.

✦Dr. Noriaki Kano developed a revealing model for understanding how various product features affect customer happiness.

✦A “delightful” feature is an attribute of the product customers love but do not expect — for example, new apps in the app store.

✦A “linear” feature is one the user expects and more of that quality increases satisfaction — think more battery life.

A “hygienic” feature is a must-have. Customers not only expect these attributes, they depend on them — for example, reliably telling the time on a watch.

Feature definition - new agedefintion with Apple watch context.

A son took his old father to a restaurant for an evening dinner. Father being very old and weak, while eating, dropped food on his shirt and trousers.

Others diners watched him in disgust while his son was calm. After he finished eating, his son who was not at all embarrassed, quietly took him to the wash room, wiped the food particles, removed the stains, combed his hair and fitted his spectacles firmly.

When they came out, the entire restaurant was watching them in dead silence, not able to grasp how someone could embarrass themselves publicly like that.

The son settled the bill and started walking out with his father. At that time, an old man amongst the diners called out to the son and asked him, "Don't you think you have left something behind?".

The son replied, "No sir, I haven't".

The old man retorted, "Yes, you have! You left a lesson

for every son and hope for every father".

The restaurant went silent!

Lesson for everyone

Innovative thinking is fueled when a wide range of talents, skills, and traits come together. If you want to enhance the creative potential of your team, develop the diversity of their skills. Here are a few ways to get started:

✦Build expertise. Send your team to professional conferences, or arrange training sessions to help them gain new skills.

✦Take field trips. Arrange a site visit to a customer or even to a competitor. Or observe best practices in an unfamiliar industry. For example, an airline hoping to improve customer service might visit a clothing retailer known for its excellence in that area.

✦Host creative events. Bring in outside speakers to give talks or workshops.

✦Seek additional resources. Gather your team to watch and discuss a TED talk, or form an ad hoc reading club to discuss books and articles of interest.

An amazing and Inspiring lifestory of Marvan Attapattu :

Making his debut in Test cricket for Sri Lanka, Marvan scored a duck in his first innings. And again, in his second innings.

They dropped him. So he went back to the nets for more practice. More first-class cricket. More runs. Waiting for that elusive call. And after twenty-one months, he got a second chance.

This time, he tried harder. His scores: 0 in the first innings, 1 in the second Dropped again, he went back to the grind. And scored tonnes of runs in first-class cricket. Runs that seemed inadequate to erase the painful memories of the Test failures. Well, seventeen months later, opportunity knocked yet again. Marvan got to bat in both innings of the Test. His scores: 0 and 0. Phew!

Back to the grind. Would the selectors ever give him another chance? They said he lacked big-match temperament. His technique wasn't good enough at the highest level. Undaunted, Marvan kept trying.

Three years later, he got another chance. This time, he made runs. He came good. And in an illustrious career thereafter, Marvan went on to score over 5000 runs for Sri Lanka. That included sixteen centuries and six double hundreds. And he went on to captain his country. All this despite taking over six years to score his second run in Test cricket. Wow! What a guy!

How many of us can handle failure as well as he did? Six years of trying, and failing. He must have been tempted to pursue another career. Change his sport perhaps. Play county cricket. Or, oh well, just give up. But he didn't. And that made the difference.

We all hear stories of talented people who gave up before their potential was realized. People who changed jobs and careers when success seemed elusive.

The next time you are staring at possible failure or rejection, think of Marvan. And remember this: If you don't give up, if you believe in yourself, if you stay the course, the run will eventually come. What more you could even become captain some day.

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP !

Ordinary people see only the results, whereas wise men look into the circumstances too...!!!

When civil war was going on in America, Abraham Lincoln went to visit the frontiers. At one front, he was told by the commander Bob Lee that every army officer and soldier was doing well there except one soldier, who had been recommended for court marshal! Abraham Lincoln looked curiously at Bob Lee's face and asked, "Court Marshal.. but..for what..??" Commander Bob Lee replied that a soldier, who was deputed on the night duty for the security of the unit, was found asleep...it was a grave misconduct on his part, and that is why I have recommended for his court marshal, and handed over the file to Lincoln!

Abraham Lincoln carefully scanned the pages of the file, and asked Bob Lee to produce the soldier before him!In a few minutes, the accused soldier, with dejected face, was standing before him! Lincoln looked into his eyes and asked him, "why did you sleep on your duty..did you know it could have been disastrous to the security of your unit..??" The solder with wet eyes replied very politely, "Sir, I was doing the same duty continuously for the last 3 days...I don't know when did I fall asleep..!!". And it was a fact that he was doing duty in days as well as in the nights consecutively...his duty was not changed..!!! Lincoln looked at the face of the commander, who was responsible to maintain shifts for duty too! Bob Lee was now speechless, because, infact, he was at fault for not changing his night duty!

Lincoln further asked the soldier, as to who would mourn for him, if he was sentenced to death as a result of court marshal...! The soldier burst into tears saying that he had only his ailing old mother in his family...and if he died...there was nobody to look after her..!!

Abraham Lincoln thought for a while and said, "ok..I forgive you...you are freed from court marshal...but, according to the army rules...you cannot be continued in the army..I wish you do well in your life..and look after your ailing mother.."

And after the soldier had left the room, Lincoln advised

Bob Lee to be very careful when accusing others and

asserted that one should look into the circumstances

also while considering the results..!!! Such was the

greatness of the President Abraham Lincoln..!!!

You can't be a good leader without self-awareness. Knowing who you are lets you better understand what you need most from other people. One of the simplest and most effective ways to develop it is to meditate. Yes, meditate. Meditation improves your moment-by-moment awareness by having you focus strongly on inhaling and exhaling. But it doesn't need to be formal or ritualistic. Greater clarity can also come from regular moments of pausing and reflecting. Try to gain greater awareness by finding a few seconds to focus on your breathing – maybe before sleep or when doing mundane tasks – and asking yourself:

✦What am I trying to achieve?

✦What am I doing that is working?

✦What am I doing that is slowing me down?

✦What can I do to change?

Simple Meditation Can MakeYou a Better Leader

A learned man was once attacked by thieves and was robbed. He wrote as under in his diary:

✤ Although they took my wealth, they did not take my life.

✤ Although they took my wealth, I am still left with something

✤ Finally, it was I who was robbed, not I who robbed.

✤ Although they took my wealth, I am still left with something

✤ Finally, it was I who was robbed, not I who robbed.

Filled with examples, anecdotes, and techniques, Act Like an Owner will motivate anyone trying to build a successful business that starts with people. "What a wonderful book. The only way organizations will be able to compete in the future is if their people act like owners and they create an ownership culture. A must read for the 21st century."

- Ken Blanchardcoauthor, The One Minute Manager.

"A terrific addition to any library. Marty O'Neill and Robert Blonchek have crafted an elegantly simple and uniquely

powerful approach to enhancing the performance of any organization—large or small. I wholeheartedly recommend it."

THE GREAT LAW

As you sow, so shall you reap. This is also known as the Law of Cause and Effect. Whatever we put out in the Universe is what comes back to us. If what we want is Happiness, Peace, Friendship, Love…

Then we should BE Happy, Peaceful, Loving, a Friend.

THE LAW OF CREATION

Life doesn't just HAPPEN, it requires our participation. We are one with the Universe both inside and out. Whatever surrounds us gives us clues to our inner state. BE and DO yourself… what you what to have in your Life.

THE LAW OF HUMILITY

What you refuse to accept, will continue for you. If what we see is an enemy, or someone with a character trait that we find to be negative, then we ourselves are not focused on a higher level of existence.

THE LAW OF GROWTH

Wherever you go, there you are. For us to GROW in Spirit it is we who must change and not the people, places or things around us.

The only given we have in our lives is OURSELVES and that is the only factor we have control over. When we change who and what we are within our heart our life changes too.

THE LAW OF RESPONSIBILITY

Whenever there is something wrong, there is something wrong in me.

We mirror what surrounds us and what surrounds us mirrors us. We must take responsibility of what is in our life.

THE LAW OF CONNECTION

Even if something we do seems inconsequential, it is very important that it gets done as everything in the Universe is connected. Each step leads to the next step and so forth and

THE 12 LAWS OF KARMA

so on. Someone must do the initial work to get a job done. Neither the first step nor the last are of greater significance. They were both needed to accomplish the task. Past, Present, Future They are all connected…

THE LAW OF FOCUS

You can't think of two things at the same time. When our focus is on Spiritual Values it is impossible for us to have lower thoughts such as greed or anger.

THE LAW OF GIVING AND HOSPITALITY

If you believe something to be true, then sometime in your life

you will be called upon to demonstrate that truth. Here is where we put what we SAY that we have learned into PRACTICE.

THE LAW OF HERE AND NOW

Looking back to examine what was, prevents us from being totally in the HERE AND NOW. Old thoughts, old patterns of behavior, old dreams… Prevent us from having new ones.

THE LAW OF CHANGE

History repeats itself until we learn the lessons that we need to change our path.

THE LAW OF PATIENCE AND REWARD

All Rewards require initial toil. Rewards of lasting value require patient and persistent toil. True Joy follows doing what we're suppose to be doing and waiting for the Reward to come.

THE LAW OF SIGNIFICANCE AND INSPIRATION

You get back from something whatever you've put into it. The Value of something is a direct result of the energy and intent that is put into it.

Every personal contribution is also a contribution to the Whole Lack luster Contributions have no impact on the Whole or work to diminish it. Loving Contributions Lift Up and Inspire the Whole.

John Meyer and Natalie Allen developed their Three Component Model of Commitment and published it in the 1991 "Human Resource Management Review." The model explains that commitment to an organization is a psychological state, and that it has three distinct components that affect how employees feel about the organization that they work for.

The three components are:

1. Affection for your job ("affective commitment").

2. Fear of loss ("continuance commitment").

3. Sense of obligation to stay ("normative commitment").

What youlove doing

What theworld needs

What youare good at

What you canbe paid for

Passion Mission

Profession Vocation

Purpose

Two people with similar backgrounds, abilities and

education enter an organization at the same time. They're

both given the same opportunities to succeed.

Five years later, one of them has become a senior manager.

This person manages teams of people, has the respect of

their peers, and earns a generous salary.

Meanwhile, the other one has not advanced far. He is stuck

in a dead-end position with little scope for advancement. He

is unhappy with the situation and is considering moving on.

What Makes the Difference?

What makes some people succeed whilst others don't? Is it

ability? Is it luck? Do some people simply have more desire?

Tthe difference between people who succeed and those

that don't isn't desire, ability, or luck. The difference is that

accomplished people take the initiative to equip themselves

with the knowledge and tools they need for success, whilst

other fail to take action.

Equipping themselves, is not through work-sponsored

training. The skills that develop a successful career are

people management, effective communication, time

management, problem solving. Give them the attention they

deserve.

So, by equipping yourself, you are taking the initiative

to improve your skills and take control of your career.

A scenario in the workplace:

When you Own Responsibility , Nothing is Impossible

There were two warring tribes in Andes, one that lived in the lowlands and the other in the mountains. The mountain people invaded the lowlanders one day, and, as part of their plundering, they kidnapped a baby of one of the lowlander families and took the infant back up into the mountains.

The lowlanders didn't know how to climb the mountain. They didn't know any of the trails that the mountain people used, and they didn't know where to find the mountain people or how to track them in the steep terrain.

Even so, they sent their best party of fighting men to climb the mountain and bring the baby home.

The men tried first one method of climbing and then, another. They tried one trail and then, another. After several days of effort, however, they had climbed only about 50 meters.

Feeling helpless, the lowlanders decided that the cause was lost, and they prepared to return to their village below.

As they were packing their gear for the descent, they saw the baby's mother walking towards them. They realized that she was coming down from the mountain that they hadn't figured out how to climb.

And then they saw that she had the baby strapped to her back. How could that be?

One man greeted her and said, 'We couldn't climb this mountain. How did you do this when we, the strongest and the most able men in our tribe couldn't do it?'

She shrugged her shoulders and said, 'It wasn't your baby.'

There was this king who had 10 wild dogs… He used them to torture and eat all ministers who made mistakes.

So one of the ministers, once gave an opinion which was wrong, and which the king didn't like at all… So he ordered that the minister be thrown to the dogs.

So the minister said, “I served you 10 years and you do this???… Please give me 10 days before you throw me in with those dogs!”… So the king agreed…

In those 10 days the minister went to the guard that was guarding the dogs and told him he wants to serve the dogs for the next 10 days… The guard was baffled… But he agreed… So the minister started feeding the dogs, cleaning for them, bathing them, providing all sorts of comfort for them.

So when the 10 days were up… The king ordered that the minister be thrown in to the dogs for his punishment. But when he was thrown in, Everyone was amazed at what they saw… They saw the dogs licking the feet of the minister!

So the king baffled at what he saw… Said:” what happened to the.Dogs !!!” The minister then said;” I served the dogs for 10 days and they didn't forget my service… I served you for 10 years and you forgot all at the first mistake!”… So the king realised his mistake and ordered the minister to go free.

A father was busy reading his favourite magazine and his little daughter was every now and then distracting him. To keep his daughter busy, he took out one page on which the World Map was printed. He then tore the page into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together again.

Having done this, the father was now convinced he would read his magazine without any disturbance as it would take his daughter the whole day to get it done.

But the little one came back within two minutes with the perfect map…………!!!

The curious and confused father asked her how she could do it so quickly??

She giggled and said,

“Oh…Dad, there is Amitabh Bachan's photo on the other side of the paper, I made His face perfect to get the map right…!!!

Meeting challenges

Many managers don't give effective feedback because they're simply pressed for time. There are three ways to make this easier – for you and your employee:

✦Create a standard way in. Reduce the time you spend mulling over each conversation by establishing a simple, routinized way to open feedback discussions. “I'm going to give you some feedback” or ”Are you open to my coaching on this?” gets immediate attention and sets the right tone.

✦Be blunt. If you've ever said “maybe you could...” or asked an employee to “think about” a performance issue, you're likely not being blunt enough. Be honest, sincere, and personal while addressing the issue head-on.

✦Ask him to play it back. To avoid having the same conversation again and again, make sure your employee can clearly explain what he needs to change or do next.

"The good news - nearly 100% attendance for the Leadership Seminar. The bad news – now everyone thinks they are in charge."

In front of a posh departmental stood a person smoking a big Havana Cigar.

A passer by stopped and looked at him in wonder.

He said to him ,"What a fragrance ! How many such cigars do you smoke a day ?'

The person was amused at this question but answered out of courtsy," Not many. Around ten a day or may be more at times.',

The passerby asked,'If you do not mind , tell me how much one costs?'

The person replied, Not much ! Around Rs. 1OO per cigar'

The passerby asked , My God ! How many years have you been smoking ?'

The man was amused at the barrage of questions but replied patiently, 'Around 5O years,'

The passerby exclaimed ,'My God ! Do you realise that if you had not been smoking , this building you are standing in front of you , would have been yours.'

The man was by now annoyed and asked the passerby,' Evidently you are a non smoker, ''Does this building belong to you.?'

The passerby replied ,' No,'

The man replied ,'Well ! It belongs to me.'
