Yarn

The Uncommon Thread Merino Silk Fingering – 50 % merino, 50 % silk (100 g / 400 m), one skein. Shawl shown weighs about 90 grams.

Needles

4,5 mm or to obtain gauge

Gauge

20 sts and 30 rows = 10 cm. Gauge is not important, but knitted fabric should not be too tight.

Beginning

CO 3 sts. Knit 7 rows. Turn 90 degrees to right and pick up and knit 3 sts from the long edge of the piece. Pick up and knit 3 sts from the CO edge. = 9 sts.

Next row: k 3, YO, p 3, YO, k 3

Next row: k 3, YO, k 2, YO, PM, k 1, PM, YO, k 2 , YO, k 3

Body part (stockinette st)

1. row: k 3, YO, purl until 3 sts left, yo, k 3

2. row: k 3, YO, knit to first marker, YO, SM, k 1, SM, YO, knit until 3 sts left, YO, k 3

Repeat rows 1-2 until you have 221 sts on the needle.

Lace edging

Start knitting by the charts. There are three edge stitches on the beginning and end of every row; they are not marked in the charts.

Work through chart A, then B. Repeat A and B. If you want, you may repeat A- and B-charts as many times you wish; just remember end with chart B. Then, work charts C and D.

Bind off

Bind off sts on the right side as follows: knit 2, * slip left needle back to these two sts, knit them together, knit 1 *

Repeat until all sts are bound off.

And then...

Weave in ends. Wet-block well.
