Chairman’s Report 2012

We have had a busy year at LRC despite the weather at the beginning making doing anything with horse’s hard work. The snow during January and February meant that it was the end of February before we re-started our monthly clinics with Robert Pickles at Hilders and our dressage. During the Spring we managed some Mechanical Horse sessions with Michelle Cogger near East Grinstead and welcomed Leanne Wall as a new trainer to the club with monthly flatwork lessons being held from April . Our dressage went from strength to strength and we enjoyed several competitions bathed in Early spring sunshine. Sadly the rains then came and many things had to be cancelled with a couple of our dressage competitions going the same way as Badminton and many county shows. Leanne proved to be immensely popular with her monthly clinics often over scribed.

We managed to send 2 teams to the Area 10 dressage qualifier at Ardingly in July. The Senior Open team came 3rd overall and qualified for the Nationals and myself and Sam Brown put in excellent music performances to come 1st and 2nd in the elementary section seeing me qualify for Aintree . Sadly neither our team nor myself as an individual were able to make the long trek north for our classes this year but it was a great effort with all the teams showing support to each other.Several of our club members managed to qualify and attend the BD Area Festivals this year, Sam Brown with Rochester, Myself with Bailey, and Iris Waite with Don Diablo . Linda Pettit and Atalan M2s managed to win the Novice championships at Oldencraig so clearly all that training is paying off.Autumn was all too soon upon us but heralded the Dressage Championships and our well attended Autumn Camp at High Meadows .

As we approach Winter we still have several clinics on the diary, Robert Pickles in November and December , Sally Thurloway show jumping in December and our Christmas dressage. We are also sending 3 teams to Ardingley Area 10 winter dressage qualifier on the 2nd December so a busy few months coming up.The A.G.M will see us saying goodbye to Maggie Barton-Wilby our loyal treasurer for the last 6 years, she is handing over the reins to Jenny Barry who has agreed to step in and keep the clubs finances in order. We always need willing committee members so if you want to be more than a member and have input into the club events let us know, we can always find a job for you. Once again it falls upon me as chairman to thank you all for your support at our events, remember however that they don’t organise themselves and as part of your membership you should help at one event a year. We always need stewards at the dressage, scorers, writers or even just tea makers for clinics.

Limpsfield Riding Club Autumn Camp September 2012

The end of September saw 16 Limpsfield Riding Club members take the weather in their stride and enjoy our 2nd Annual Camp. Riders and horses arrived on Saturday morning and it was full on learning from the word go. All riders had a session each day on Metal Mickey the Mechanical Horse under instruction from Michelle Cogger. Many said they found it harder than riding and there were a lot of muscles aching at the end of the weekend. Mickey has such an array of sensors that it’s possible to ride everything from the slowest trot to advanced school movements. Saturday saw solo lessons with Alex Wyatt and Russell Guire of Centaur Biomechanics. Whilst Alex worked on standard schooling sessions with Russell were anything but standard. The format is that Russell videos the rider in walk trot and canter and the video is played back on a large screen in ultra-slow frame so that you can see how your position affects how the horse moves and what you can do to improve things. Russell then works with the horse and rider and at the end videos again to allow the rider to see the improvement often a small change has made. There was much laughter during his sessions but everyone came away with homework and it certainly complimented the mechanical lessons with Michelle. Position was everything all weekend!. Saturday night saw the campers retire to the club house for a well-earned fish and chip supper and a few glasses of wine. The hardy ones then retired to their trailers, lorries or tents whilst several opted for the relative comfort of a camp bed in the club house! Sunday sadly dawned wet and stayed wet all day. Riders resolves and spirit was tested and I’m pleased to say that despite everyone resembling drowned rats by the end of the day they were still smiling helped I’m sure by Sam Browns lovely mum Margaret keeping us all so well fed and watered…the Sunday lunch pizzas were an inspiration and certainly helped weather fatigue!! Alex Wyatt hogged the indoor for his sessions and included some small gridwork or jumping for a few lessons with poor Leanne Wall drawing the short straw of outdoor lessons from 9 until 6…she was still smiling at the end of the day , I think, however it could just have been water getting in her face. We were lucky to have Louise from Spillers horse feeds on Sunday with her weighbridge and feed advice. Sunday evening was leaving time and with heavy hearts everyone packed up their trusty steeds and headed home heads full of winter homework and goals to work towards. For some just getting to the camp and riding in front of others was an achievement and for many it was their first time taking their horses away and indulging in time with them. I’m amazingly proud of our members, during the whole 2 days I never heard a grumble or cross word despite the terrible weather and some taxing equines!!...The 3rd camp is already in planning and a pre date will follow soon. If you attended and want to see something different or extra let me know or if you have something you would like to see changed, again let me know I’m always ready to consider sensible suggestions…note Michelle -Eggleton, sensible suggestions-food for camp will never just be fruit and salad its against the rules!!....Special thanks to all our trainers who worked so hard over the 2 days to make sure everyone had a good time and learnt loads!.

A TRULY HOLISTIC HEALTH APPROACH FOR YOUR HORSENaturally Animals provides a personalized approach to animal health care that is truly unique. By looking at a horse (or any species) holistically, Naturally Animals treat the root cause of any health or behavioural issues and not just the symptoms. This enables an owner to understand why their horse is experiencing the problem and how to prevent or minimize the chances of it reoccurring.

Catherine uses a range of techniques centered on treating and supporting a horse in a stress free and non-invasive way. At the heart of the support package, she taps into a horse’s innate evolutionary instincts of selecting plant medication to rebalance its health and well-being. As an animal owner Catherine understands how important the ongoing support and advice is, so once your horse’s needs have been identified, she then provides solutions tailored to you and your horse’s circumstances, budget and life choices. To achieve this Naturally Animals use a combination of the following therapies & services:

1 Iridology – the analysis of the iris to reveal the state of a horse’s health.

2 Applied Zoopharmacognosy- the process by which animals self-medicate and naturally forage plants and their essential oils, algae, clay and other natural remedies

3 Animal Communication.

4 Phototonic Red Light Therapy - therapeutic red light that works on any injury and acupressure points balancing the body and stimulating repair;

5 Environmental Enhancement;

6 Herbal Support and On-line shop
