PRESIDENT RAYMOND DOOLEY

Dear Students:

"The year 1956-57 has been an outstanding one

for Lincoln College. Our enrollment was the highest

in the history of the school and we have completed

a new men's residence. Olin-Sang Hall. I am sure

that you will all agree with us that it is a splendid

addition to the campus and one which will serve our

young men for many, many years to come.

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate

the members of the LYNXITE Staff whohave prepared

this fine yearbook and all the students who have given

so generously of their time and talents. I sincerely

hope that in years to come you will treasure the mem-

ory of your college days and that you will faithfully

keep in touch with your alma mater.

Best wishes to all of you.

"

DEAN ELVA BAILEY

Dear Students:

"These are the echoes of your experiences at

Lincoln College. I hope the perspective of time will

prove them to be even more valuable than you realiz-

ed at the time of graduation.

Please return and visit with us often and keep

the alumni office informed of your current status and

address. Lincoln College will continue its interest in

you and we hope your interest in the activities and

growth of the college continues.

I extend the hope that each of you will leave

here to take up a life rich in service and demanding

of your talents.

Best wishes always,

"

The Lincoln Room contains a large number

of valuable books on Lincoln and other in-

teresting items connected with him. It is

one of the main attractions of Lincoln Col-

lege and each year many visitors come to see

this room. The Lincoln Room is on the

same floor as the Library in the Admini-

stration Building, It is said to be one of the

most extensive collections on Lincoln in

existence.

The Museum of the Presidents, located on the first floor of University Hall, was dedicated

during Commencement, May 29. 1955. It is the first permanent exhibit ever created to honor the

thirty-three men who have served this country as Chief Executive.

Centered in the room on a block of Vermont marble are five flags: those of the United

States, the Christian Church, the State of Illinois, the Confederacy, and Lincoln College.

It is the first time an institution has memorialized the office rather than the man. It is only

fitting that all of our Presidents collectively arehonored at the first school named for the sixteenth

president of the United States of America.
