SUMMARY

LINCOLN is an EU Horizon 2020 research project of 36 month duration (1st October 2016 - 30th September 2019). The project will use innovative design methodologies and tools for the development of new vessels concepts through dynamic simulation model testing in the maritime sector.

• Vessel manufacturer

• Vessel designers

• Software suppliers

• Standardisation bodies

• Offshore Service providers

• Marine authorities

LINCOLN will use:

• a Lean Fact Based design model approach, which combines real operative data at sea with lean methodology, to support the development and implementation of the vessel concepts• IT customized tools to enable the acquisition and usage of field data, coming from an IoT platform (i-Captain system)• High Performance Computing Simulation to verify the resulting concept design of the vessel

develop three types of radically NEW VESSELS CONCEPTS:• A Multi-platform catamaran to serve as service crew and multi-purpose survey vessel• A Module Based High Speed Patrol Boat platform• An Emergency Response and Recovery Vessels (EERV) series

represent a SUCCESS STORY of the application of LEAN PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT methodology in vessel design:

• increase quality, reduce costs and time to market and enable modular-, service- and data driven design

develop and deliver IoT based solutions for the maritime professional market:• support and deliver an improved version of the IoT i-Captain system
