Apprenticeships City Council apprenticeship scheme operating since 1995 – when

no employees under 25 Council has over 50% of all apprentices ever recruited still working

for them. More than 50% of under 30s are current or former apprentices

Career progression routes and talent management in place Senior Management and political “Buy in” Excellent results 100% success rate so far in 11/12

Apprenticeships Operate with individually designed programmes – meeting the

needs of employer and learner

Delivery in partnership with First College or specialised providers Delivery in employer or centre premises with 1:1 +/or groups with

mutually agreed timings, anytime start, often using e portfolio Allocation of personally matched supervisor, mentor and assessor Real work and value Apprenticeships are undertaken in a placement, junior post or

alongside permanent employment where job roles suitable
