More room to liveLindab’s Multi-Service Chilled Beams are perfectly suitedto buildings where restricted headroom is an issue.

Where finished slab heights are relatively low (for example

2.7m to 3.0m above floor level), the use of a suspended

ceiling would bring down the ceiling height even lower,

making rooms appear oppressive and claustrophobic.

Lindab’s Multi-Service Chilled Beams eliminate the need for

false ceilings to conceal unsightly services and allow the full

room height to be employed, creating a more spacious and

comfortable environment.

Free night-time cooling effect

The use of Lindab’s Multi-Service Chilled Beams in many

cases eliminates the need for false ceilings leaving the

ceiling slab exposed. This allows the designer to utilise

the building’s thermal mass to absorb energy at peak

times resulting in a natural night-time cooling effect and

thereby reducing cooling demand in the morning period.

With Lindab’s multi-service chilled beam solutions you can meet your heating and cooling and lighting needs whilst

benefiting from off-site pre-installation of data and voice cabling as well as services such as public address, audio and

video all in one neat plug-and-play package. Lindab’s Multi-Service Chilled Beams are assembled in a controlled factory

environment resulting in a superior build quality to that achieved in a multi-trade site environment. Off-site assembly also

reduces the project construction time as the beams can be pre-assembled whilst the building is in the early stages

of construction and delivered to site as “plug-and-play” factory tested units.

Provision for additional services

Flexibility is at the core of Lindab’s Multi-Service Chilled Beams solutions, allowing for third-party services such as

sprinklers to be pre-accommodated within the beams by provision of suitable pre-cut openings, and equipment such

as video projectors and their associated services to be integrated, ensuring that those clean lines remain unbroken.

By combining ventilation, heating, cooling and lighting functions into one plug’n’play unit we not only made installation

simpler and faster but also brought together multiple services and controls into one unit, lowering costs. Add to that

around 30% lower energy running costs and eHybrid really defines itself as the new standard for economical, sustainable

and comfortable indoor climate control.

Smart technology for energy savings

Combining the best from water and air technology into

the eHybrid system results in a number of energy-saving

advantages. eHybrid automatically optimises supply and

extract airflow based upon room occupancy. Furthermore,

eHybrid’s demand-controlled lighting cuts energy usage

by only activating lighting when it is needed and by

automatically reducing the light output according to the

ambient light in the room. Even the “Green” fluorescents

are 10% more effective compared to regular T5 tubes

to save energy.

eHybrid system components

The Regula Combi control unit controls both air and water valves for cooling and

heating, as well as communicating with Modbus/EXOline master systems. Regula

Combi can control one master unit plus up to 9 slave units as a group and can

take inputs from both PIR and CO2 sensors. Further information can be found at

The Regula eConnect interface board makes it easy to connect all necessary sensors

and controls to a group of eHybrid units. Regula eConnect acts as a connection hub

on each beam where all inputs and outputs for control, communication and supply

can be connected. Depending on how you want the system to function, you can

program any unit to operate as a master or a slave for zone regulation. For all low-

voltage signals, Regula eConnect has interfaces with RJ-standard connectors.

Smart technology for energy savings

eHybrid automatically regulates the airflow. From maximum cooling flow, to fresh air flow down to minimum flow, this

demand control and variable air flow reduces energy consumption, as does the reduced air volume needed to fulfil the fresh

air requirements. Furthermore, the demand-controlled lighting and automatic light-level control reduces energy consumption.

A recent study by the independent consultant company WSP, comparing a conventional chilled beam solution with eHybrid

in various operating conditions, clearly shows the reduced energy consumption of eHybrid. WSP’s LEED calculations, based

on a typical seventy per cent occupancy of office premises, resulted in a typical energy saving of around 34% using eHybrid.
