 Introduction
Normal forms are basic and powerful tools in bifurcation theory of vectorelds But classical normal form theory known as Poincares normal formsee eg Arnold Ar may not give the simplest form since only linearparts are used for simplifying the nonlinear terms and hence one can notapply Poincare normal form theory to vector elds whose linear parts areidentically zero On the other hand classical normal forms are not uniquein general In order to get unique normal forms so that formal classicationcould be made further reduction of the classical normal forms is necessaryand the concept of normal forms should be rened
Many authors have discussed the further reduction of normal forms andsome of them have discussed uniqueness of normal forms see eg SM andreferences therein Ushiki Us introduced a systematic method by whichnonlinear parts are also used to simplify higher order terms By classicalmethod of normal form theory only one Lie bracket is used to simplify thehigher order terms Ushikis method allows more Lie brackets for the simplication CK They obtained unique normal forms simplest normal formsup to some degree for some given vector elds Wang Wa gave a methodto calculate coecients of normal forms which needs more parameters inthe transformations due to the nonuniqueness of transformations and hencemay give simplest normal forms up to some nite order by suitably choosingparameters In fact nonlinear terms play also role in the reduction Baiderintroduced special form Ba which is in fact unique normal form in anabstract sense Baider and Sanders BS introduced new grading functionsto get further reduction of normal forms They introduced the concept ofnth order normal form related with the nth grading function and give thedenition of innite order normal forms which is unique They gave uniquenormal forms for some nilpotent Hamiltonians Then they got unique normal forms for some cases of BogdanovTakens singularities BS But somecases are still unsolved Results concerning uniqueness of normal forms forsome other cases can be found in BC and SM
In this paper we rst introduce the concept of linear grading functionin section and we give a systematic method to dene some new gradingfunctions Then in section we dene nth order normal forms in whichwe combine Ushikis method and Baider and Sanders method In fact weneed only one grading function But the nth order normal forms related
![Page 4: Linear - 京都大学kokubu/preprints/wang.pdfThey obtained unique normal forms simplest normal forms up to some degree for some giv en v ector elds W ang W a ga v e a metho d to calculate](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022042419/5f35cc5c588fe624321ca063/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
to n Lie brackets in the computation In section we dene innite ordernormal form and prove that the innite order normal form must be uniqueIn section we give a sucient condition for unique normal forms Finallyin section we prove the uniqueness of rst order normal form of the specialcase of BogdanovTakens singularities which is a special case ofthe unsolved problem in BS
 Linear grading function
Let H be the linear space of all n dimensional real or complex formal vectorelds We dene a bilinear operator HH H by u v DuvDvufor any u v H Then fH g forms a Lie algebra Now let us dene agrading function such that fH g is a graded Lie algebra
For the purpose of computing normal forms of formal vector elds thegrading function should satisfy the following properties
The degree of any monomial is dened to be an integer The dimensionof the linear space Hk spanned by all monomials of degree k is nitefor any integer k in the case when there is no monomials of degree kfor some integer k we dene Hk fg
