The Linen Hall Library holds an illustrious and unparalleled profile in an historic citycentre location. Since its foundation in 1788, Library has become the home toworld­renowned archives including the Northern Ireland Political Collection, the definitivearchive of the ‘Troubles’, and the Irish and Local Studies Collection, which holds the largest catalogue of books published on the island of Ireland.

The building inhabited by the Linen Hall since 1892 is steeped in Belfast history as a formerlinen warehouse. Traditional Victorian architecture sits alongside the dramatic six­storey extension built in 2000.

In addition to being a fully­functioning library, the Linen Hall is also a vibrant cultural centrewith a calendar full of events such as talks, exhibitions, performances, conferences andreading groups. There is also a gift area and popular café with stunning views over Donegall Square.

Meeting rooms for hire range from the expansive, modern Performance Area to theintimate, book­lined Governors’ Room.
