2 Rehearsals Left!

This is the second of three rehearsals left in our

preparations for “The Wonder of Christmas” to be pre-

sented on December 19, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.

As we come into the “home stretch,” I want to

take this opportunity to thank each of you for the job you

have been doing in our rehearsals. I recognize the long

hours you have been giving up, and I know how tired we

all are. If we continue to focus and keep going we should

be able to present this music with much more confidence

and from the heart. That will give us time for a well-

deserved break from rehearsals from December 22 to

January 5, 2010.

Please understand that all we need to do is focus, focus, focus. This time of

year becomes very hectic and busy. I want you to know that I do not, in any

way, want to upset you or degrade the work that you have put into this pro-

gram, so far. My intentions are to help us be the best choir we can be and

aid in giving our “excellence in all things, and all things to the glory of

God.” That is our ministry motto and our goal for which we should strive.

I appreciate your hard work and devotion. The contributions of each choir

member are crucial for our success in this presentation. Let's continue to

work hard and look forward to sharing the good news that Christ is Born!

STILL importance stuff (Revised): TONIGHT, December 8—Rehearsal in Sanctuary

From now until the presentation, we will be rehearsing in the Sanctuary. This will give us

a chance to see and hear how we will sound and get us lined up in the choir loft.

Sunday, December 12—Memories of a Merry Christmas

This service will be led by The Keenager Khoir and The Sanctuary Bells. It will take place

in the Fellowship Hall as part of the Church-wide Christmas Banquet. Please be in prayer as

these choirs continue to prepare.

Wednesday, December 15—The Narrator will join us

We will do a complete run-through with Win Trafford in the Sanctuary.

Saturday, December 18—Dress Rehearsal (3:00-4:30 p.m.) This is a very important rehearsal for the Christmas program. We will be putting the

final elements together. Please make sure you are in your place on time and ready to go.

Sunday, December 19—The Wonder of Christmas This is the big event. The one we have been working towards and preparing for. I will

want you to be here at 5:00 p.m. for a final “walk-through” of the program and a group pic-

ture. Program begins at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, December 24—Christmas Eve Service: Love’s Pure Light This service is a drama in which candles will be used to represent the characters in the

Christmas story. It will include congregational carols and a soloist. My prayer is that it will be

a meaningful time for our congregation as we experience again the Light that has come into

the world. A Light that we cannot fully comprehend or extinguish.

Question: Does spinach really

make you strong?

Scripture: Ephesians 6:10

In the old Popeye the Sailor car-

toons, Popeye ate a can of spinach and

immediately had superhuman strength.

Parents told their children to eat their

spinach so they’d grow up strong like

Popeye. It’s true that spinach contains

iron, and our bodies need iron because it

builds red blood cells. But spinach does

not contain an especially large amount of

iron. The body doesn’t even absorb all

the iron that is contained in one serving

of spinach.

Other foods like enriched breads,

lean meats, whole-grain cereals, and liver

are just as beneficial in providing iron for

your body. In fact, to get all our iron

needs from spinach alone, we would have

to eat our weight in spinach every day.

Why did spinach get such a “strong”

reputation? In 1870, a food percentage

table, or chart, was published, and many

people read it. It compared the health

benefits of different foods. The decimal

point for spinach, however, was in the

wrong place. The result of this mistake

was that spinach seemed to have ten

times more iron than other vegetables.

The error stuck in people's minds, and

spinach became thought of as the vegeta-

ble for strength.

So What? It’s amazing that people will be-

lieve, without question, that a vegetable

can make them strong, yet doubt whether

God can. God, in fact, is the only one

who can make us truly strong. The Bible

says:

“Your strength must come from the

Lord's mighty power within you.”

—EPHESIANS 6:10, TLB

The next time you're feeling

weak, fuel yourself by opening the Bible

instead of a can of spinach.
