Dear Parents, BUS Information – PLEASE READ Marshalling Moms: Leanne Gilhuis, Jessica Weiss, Katheryn Walker, Troy Steyn, Susannah Stretton – We thank you for your diligent care of our kids. We pray daily for you all and appreciate this service to our school community! Please collect your November bus pass (colour violet) from the office, and provide payment. As stated previously each month we will have a different colored bus pass to allow our bus drivers to validate riders. November bus passes are now available to be picked up in the office. These tickets need to be paid for and picked up by the last Thursday of every month by the latest. If you pick up your bus-riding child early, you MUST notify the office! If you decide not to renew your bus pass for any given month/s, please send an email to the office notifying us of this change. For those riders who currently pay monthly – and would like to setup a monthly Credit Card payment, please fill in the Credit Card Authorization Form following and bring it into the office. Thank you for your support. PAC needs a Fridge PAC is looking for a standard (freezer on top) refrigerator less than 5 years old and in great working condition and must be delivered to the school. Refrigerator will be used for our Hot lunch program and the future TUK shop. Please contact Pacchair@lgca.ca PAC Gift Cards For the past few years the PAC has sold gift cards through the Shop Funds program as a fall fundraiser. This year we will place 2 orders - November 1st and December 1st. For those unfamiliar with the program, it is really simple. Fill out the attached order form, write a cheque to LGCA PAC for the amount of gift cards ordered and place them both in the BIG BLUE PAC BOX in the entry way of the school (upper staircase). The gift cards will be ready for pick up from the office a week later. The percentage on the form is what our school will earn with the purchase of the gift card. So plan ahead for upcoming birthday gifts and Christmas shopping! You can also locate this form on the website at www.lgca.ca under the PAC icon. We get Dough for your Dough, a real dough raiser! Home Ec Lab/Art Lab The High School Home Ec / Art Room is all set up but is in the need of a few supplies as the classes are getting bigger. The stations are color coordinated (red, orange, green, blue, pink, and white). Individual Student Photograph Retakes – New Date – Wednesday, November 5th The photo retakes date has changed. Photo retakes will now take place on Wednesday, November 5th.

Crazy Hair Day – Thursday, October 31st On Friday, October 31st students may wear non-uniform jeans and a colourful top with crazy hair. (No costumes) Please bring a tin of canned food for the Harvest Project to participate in this student leadership initiative. Missions Team – Bottle Drive and Purdy’s Chocolate Orders

The LGCA Missions Team will be going to the Philippines in March, 2015. We will be helping with the feeding program, painting the community center, taking donations of clothing and school supplies while spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Dear Parents,

Highland Dancing for K to 3 Girls – New Dancers Welcome

Once again, I will be offering highland dancing lessons weekly every Monday starting on November 3rd until December 8th with the exception of November 10th as school is closed for Remembrance Day. We will meet in the gym right after school for a 3:15 start and we will finish at 4 p.m. Term 2 will resume in January.

For those not familiar with highland dancing, it is the spectacular combination of movement, music and costume. The movements are strong and impressive. Students will be introduced to some basic movements in an environment where self-confidence, self-esteem, self-motivation and fitness will be fostered. With more space this year, the dancers will also be learning specific dances.

For families new to the school just a little about my qualifications. Outside of school, I have my own dance school. As a teacher I have produced several provincial champions along with other championship titles. I am an appointed Examiner for the British Association Teachers of Dance, as well as a certified teacher and I am also on the world wide panel for judges. As a judge and teacher, I have the opportunity to travel worldwide to pass on my knowledge.

What to wear – school shorts and t-shirts and long hair must be tied back in a ponytail. Proper dance shoes are not necessary to start however if your child has ballet slippers or gymnastic slippers these will be just fine otherwise socks will do. In the future, I can advise where to purchase proper highland dancing slippers.

We will be working toward some specific goals, such as BATD dance exams in term 3, therefore regular attendance is required unless your child is sick. Again, this year we will be assessing a very ‘nominal’ fee of $25 for term 1. Assessing a fee ensures a commitment on your part and allows me to build on each weekly lesson. Please note this works out to $5 a lesson which you would not find anywhere in the world of dance. Please respond by returning the below by Thursday, October 30th as this will allow me to plan accordingly for numbers.
