4 Start-up

4.1 Setting of device address

The addresses of all PROFIBUS-PA devicesmust be set. An incorrect address setting willprevent detection of the measuring instrumentby the control system.

All instruments are set to address 126 at thefactory. This address can be used to test thefunction of the instrument and for connectionto a PROFIBUS-PA network. Subsequently, this address must be changed to connnectadditional devices. The device address canbe set via

• field operation• PROFIBUS communication• DIL switch at the instrument.

Note:

• Valid device address range:0 ... 126.

• Each address may only beassigned once in a PROFIBUS-PAnetwork.

• The double arrow in the displayindicates communication viaPROFIBUS.

Setting the device address via field operation (software setting)

The device address is set via keys inthe menu field Ι1 of the function groupINTERFACE.

Note:

The address can only be set viasoftware if DIL switch 8 is set tosoftware position. DIL switch 8 is setto software position at the factory. The opposite figure shows thedefault setting of the switch.

Setting the device address via PROFIBUS communication

The device address is set via the Set Slave Adr service.

Setting the device address via DIL switch (hardware setting)

The DIL switch is situated at the electronics module above the display. To set the deviceaddress, proceed as follows:

• Field instrument:– Unscrew the four recessed-head

screws and remove the instrumentcover. The electronics module withDIL switch is situated in the instrumentcover.

• Panel-mounted instrument:– The DIL switch is accessible through

a break in the instrument above thedisplay.

• Set the device address (0 ... 126) atswitches 1 to 7, e.g. 18 = 2 + 16.

• For setting the address via DIL switch→ set switch 8 to OFF.

• For field instrument, close the instrumentcover again.

4.2 Device data and type files

The device data file (GSD) is required toconfigure a PROFIBUS-DP network. The GSD(a simple text file) describes e.g., which datatransfer rate is supported by the device orwhich digital information in which format thePLC receives from the device.

Each device is assigned an ID number by thePROFIBUS user organization (PNO). Thename of the device data file (GSD) is derivedfrom this ID number.

Note:

• For Endress+Hauser devices,the ID number always starts with“15XX”.

The GSD files for all Endress+Hauser devicescan be obtained from the following sources:

– via the Internet:E+H: http://www.endress.com(Product Avenue → DownloadStreet → Field CommunicationStreet)PNO: http://www.profibus.com(GSD library)

Working with the GSD / type files

The GSD files must be copied to a specificsubdirectory of the PROFIBUS-DPconfiguration software of your PLC.

Note:

• The subdirectory to be used forthe Siemens STEP7 configurationsoftware of the SiemensS7-300/400 PLC is\siemens\step7\s7data\gsd.

• If you are using a differentconfiguration software, then contactthe manufacturer of your PLC forthe correct subdirectory to use.

• If you have a Siemens S5 PLC andif the PROFIBUS-PA network isconfigured with the COM ET200configuration software, then youwill need type files (x.200 files).

• The GSD directory contains asubdirectory which holds the GSDfiles with the standard identifier(0x94). For example, these GSDfiles are intended for use with anAllen-Bradley PLC5.

5 Communication

The Liquisys M CXM 223/253 transmitter supplies the measured values using the cyclicalservice according to the PROFIBUS-DP protocol. Other parameters are made available usingthe acyclical service.

5.1 Cyclical data exchange (Data_Exchange)

The Data_Exchange service enables a PLC to read input data from the Liquisys M CXM223/253 transmitter. The cyclical data message for the maximum configuration of the LiquisysM CXM 223/253 is as follows:

Status codes for main parameter (pH, conductivity, turbidity, oxygen) and temperature

If you do not wish to use all cyclical data provided by the Liquisys M CXM 223/253, then youcan eliminate cyclical data blocks from the cyclical message with the aid of the deviceconfiguration data string (Chk_Cfg) using the PLC software. You should only activate those datablocks which are actually processed by the system. This will improve the data throughput of aPROFIBUS network.

On the Liquisys M CXM 223/253 transmitter, two data blocks can be activated for cyclical dataexchange. The following table shows the configuration data needed for this (h means that thenumber is a hexadecimal number). The shortened identifier 94h can also be used. Theextended format is to be preferred, however, because it includes information for interpretationof the data.

Liquisys M CXM 223/253 configuration data

The following configurations are useful for the data blocks available with the Liquisys M CXM223/253:

Data blocks that are not activated must be identified by a zero as a placeholder in theconfiguration data string if other configuration data follow. Zeros at the end of the configurationdata may be omitted.

5.2 Acyclical data exchange

Acyclic data transmission is used to transfer parameters during commissioning, duringmaintenance or to display other measured variables that are not contained in the useful datatraffic.

The software of the Liquisys M CXM 223/253 transmitter includes the so-called physical blockcontaining instrument-specific information, such as measuring point designation (tag), softwareversion, etc., and a block with manufacturer-specific data used for instrument operation.

Generally, a distinction is made between Class 1 and Class 2 master connections. The Liquisys M transmitter only supports Class 2 master connections.

• Two Class 2 masters are permitted with Liquisys M. This means that two Class 2 masterscan access Liquisys M at the same time. However, you must make certain that they do notboth attempt to write to the same data. Otherwise the data consistency can lo longer beguaranteed.

• When a Class 2 master reads parameters, it sends a request telegram to the transmitterspecifiying the device address, the slot/index and the expected record length. The transmitter answers with the requested record if the record exists and is the correctlength (byte).

• When a Class 2 master writes parameters, it transmits the address of the transmitter, theslot/index, length information (byte) and the record. The transmitter acknowledges this writejob after completion. A Class 2 master can access the blocks mentioned above.

The device management and physical block are identical for all parameters measured. Please refer to the following tables for the index (all parameters are situated in slot 1).

5.3 Operation via Commuwin II

PROFIBUS devices can be operated usingthe Commuwin II operating program. Theconnection to Commuwin II is established viathe PROFIBUS server. The device list showsall devices connected to the selected bussegments. The profile parameters areconfigured either via the operating matrix orvia the graphical user interface.

The operating structures of the variousmeasuring parameters are shown on thenext pages.

Note:

• Operation via Commuwin II isdescribed in the operatinginstructions BA 124F/00/en.

• If the off-line parameterisationdoes not correspond with theversion of the device(e.g., no release code for pluspackage), then error 03 will be setafter completion of the download, and the transmitter will not switchto the normal operating status. In this case, please repeat thedownload with correct data, orperform a device reset (VH 94).
