LIST OF ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY VOLUNTEERS OF NSS
SANJAULI UNIT FOR SESSION 2020-21
1. Participation of NSS Volunteers in National Youth Fest organized in Lucknow.
Date: 11th January 2020 - 16th January 2020
Volunteer Priyanka Vohra and Volunteer Kapil Dev are the part of the team that
represented Himachal Pradesh at National Youth Festival at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The
volunteers not only represented the culture of Himachal Pradesh but also inspired other
NSS volunteers to come ahead and showcase their talent. Such type of activities provide
exposure to participants and inspiration and motivation for other volunteers.
Outcome: The volunteers represent the culture and traditions of Himachal Pradesh at national
level. Volunteers share and expanded the knowledge of cultures with each other. This inspire
& motivate other volunteers to showcase their talent.
2. Participation of NSS Volunteers in Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad-2020 organized by
MIT-WPU at Vigyan Bhawan Delhi.
Date: 18th February – 23rd February
Four NSS Volunteers of COE GC Sanjauli- Aanchal Bhandari, Bhagat Singh Thakur,
Rahul Dev Premi and Shivani Chauhan participated at Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad, Vigyaan
Bhawan Delhi. NSS Volunteer Rahul Dev Premi then unanimously elected as BCS
Himachal Pradesh State Coordinator for year 2020-21. BCS is the world largest
classroom, where student from every part of India come and discuss the idea. As taking
the inspiration from Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad NSS volunteers had formed Himachal
Pradesh Student Parliament. It is a non-political student organization with an utmost goal
is to promote leadership skills among youth in Himachal Pradesh.
Outcome: The Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad is a platform where leader from all the fields i.e.
politics, business, film industry, journalism and diplomacy etc., share their views with
students. Not only this but the BCS is the world largest student classroom where students also
share their idea with each other. The development of leadership among youth of country is the
utmost objective of this organization. Taking inspiration from BCS, HPSP or Himachal
Pradesh Student Parliament was formed by NSS `volunteer in September, 2018. NSS
Volunteer Rahul Dev Premi then unanimously elected as BCS Himachal Pradesh State
Coordinator for year 2020-21. In the past Volunteer Diksha Thakur, Volunteer Kamal Thakur
and Volunteer Gunjan and Volunteer Sudhanshu Thakur of NSS Sanjauli unit sworn as the
state coordinators and inspired youth of the state thorough these medium to enlighten the
leadership qualities among youth of Himachal Pradesh.
3. 7 days Annual NSS Camp
Date: 17th Feb – 24 Feb, 2020
Glimpses of activities undertaken by NSS Sanjauli Unit during 7 days Annual Camp
In the 7 days Camp organized by NSS Sanjauli, the awareness campaigns, cleanliness
drives and ways to healthy lifestyles were discussed. 90 NSS volunteers participated in
the camp. The camp is then concluded with the cultural and prize distribution function.
Number of activities were organized during the 7-day camps. The cleanliness drive was
organized at the Jawala Mata Temple, local temple and tourist destination situated at
units adopted village. In order to fight the evils of drug addiction rally from GC Sanjauli
to Sanjauli Chowk was also organized. Cleanliness drives were organized at various
places. In order to spread awareness regarding the drug addiction and cleanliness the 90
NSS volunteers individually came into the direct contact with the local people. We all
know that healthy life is the key to success. To promote healthy lifestyle special yoga
sessions were also organized for the NSS volunteers of unit. The camp was concluded
with the cultural event an lots of praise for the good work that NSS Unit had done
throughout the year.
4. POWER WALK organized by state commission for women at Ridge Shimla in assoc.
and collab. with NSS Unit.
Date: 21st March 2020
35 NSS volunteers participated in a power march organised by state commission for
women and the National Commission for Women.
Outcome: Today we can see that eve-teasing is growing day by day. The parent advised
their girls to come home before night or before sun goes down. And this has become the
golden rules for girls. Parents are always more anxious about safety of their girl child.
Whether you are a sincere girl or not depends upon whether you return home before night or
not. To change and challenge this taboo, the NSS Volunteers of GC Sanjauli in collaboration
and association with National Commission for Women organised the POWER WALK, an
innovative initiative where rally was organized at the Mall, Shimla to prove that girls can
keep outdoor even after dark. Girl out after dark did not reveal her character. All it takes is
determination, strong nerves and guts.
5. ORGANIZING COVID-19 ONLINE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AND
PARTICIPATING AND SUPPORTING THE COVID 19 ONLINE CAMPAIGNS.
Under Covid 19 online awareness campaign various activities like awareness
campaigns, fitness campaigns, online contests were organized. The volunteers of the
unit also participated and supported initiatives to raise awareness regarding COVID-19.
Here is glimpse of some of activities undertaken by NSS Sanjauli Unit.
Entries under online COVID-19 awareness contests and campaigns
The Coronavirus or COVID-19 Pandemic proved to be the challenging time for everyone and
especially for the poor and lower-middleclass. It was also challenging for our NSS Unit to
undertake and perform awareness campaigns and help-&-support campaigns during
lockdown. But our NSS unit come up with the innovative approach to tackle such problem.
As a part of a solution the online campaigns and online conferences were organised to raise
awareness on COVID-19. For ground activities NSS Volunteers were divided in small groups
and each group was assigned with particular tasks. A group of volunteers make face masks
and face shield, other volunteers distribute them. Volunteer Rahul Premi and other NSS
Volunteers provide their services to Durah (Nirmand) panchayat and 200 masks were
distributed in the region. During this time the food items and 1500 masks were distributed
to the migrant workers and laborers. During this time Volunteer Priyanka Vohra and
Volunteer Richa distributed masks and face shields to shopkeepers and police officers at
Boilieuganj, Shimla. More than 150 Volunteers of unit were engaged in different campaign
under Corona_ware Mission. This include awareness campaigns, mask making and
distribution programs, video conferences, online contests like selfie with mask, painting
and poster making competitions. In the Srijan Competition, in which volunteers were asked
to make something from waste material volunteer Richa bagged 3rd position and Volunteer
Akanksha in poster making competition. Lockdown prove to be the tough time for all, the
campaign was also organised in which volunteers were asked to share the way in which they
are spending their time during lockdown. Campaign regarding spreading awareness on
COVID-19 and distribution of food, masks and face shields among people are the main
activities of our unit and constitutes two-third or 67% of our total activities for session
2020-21. The activities of our unit were widely praised.
6. DEEKSHA Portal and Training Program on the Basics of Corona Virus
In order to increase the volunteers and students understanding of coronavirus, and in order to
spread awareness on the basics of COVID-19 the course on the BASICS OF COVID-19 is
added and upload on the DEEKSHA portal of the government of India. Under our awareness
programs, students and NSS Volunteers were encourage to take training on the BASICS OF
COVID-19 on the DEEKSHA portal of GoI. Nearly 50 NSS volunteers and other
students were encouraged by our unit to take training on the Basics of Covid-19 from
DEEKSHA Portal of GoI. Here are few certificates of students and volunteer who had
successfully undertaken the training on the basics of Covid-19.
7. Setting up of Admission helpline to assist admission seekers. Date: 17 July 2020
Volunteers helped new admission seekers to resolve their queries regarding the online
admission process. The helpdesk numbers where shared on official NSS Sanjauli
Facebook page and in local newspapers.
OUTCOME: Due to COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, the offline admissions were
a very challenging task. For this session new courses like Bachelors in Business
Administration, MA English, PGDCA were also introduced. Every year more than
18,000 students from all around the state applied for the admissions at our college COE
GC Sanjauli Shimla. Keeping this all-in mind, for second consecutive session, the
admissions were done online. The college NSS Unit established admission helpline
numbers through which NSS Volunteer help the applicants to apply for online
admission in respective courses. NSS Sanjauli Unit received more than 2500 calls in
our admission helpline number(s).
8. Mask and Hand wash Distribution Campaign
Date: 15 August 2020
On the occasion of Independence Day NSS Volunteers Nishant Kanwar, Bhagat Singh
Thakur, Richa and Priyanka Vohra distributed masks and handwash to Swachta
Yodhas at Shimla.
OUTCOME: At the occasion of Independence Day NSS Volunteers Nishant Kanwar,
Bhagat Singh Thakur, Richa and Priyanka Vohra distributed 70 masks and handwash
to our Swachta-Yodhas at Shimla. NSS volunteers also thanked and appreciated the
efforts and work done by the Swachta-workers to make our city Shimla clean and
beautiful. The services and the work of Swachta workers are Oftenly neglected by the
society. By distributing masks and hand washes, and by appreciating the efforts of
Swachta workers or Swachta Yodhas, NSS Volunteers presented their gratitude towards
Swachta Yodhas and their important role in our day to day lives.
9. Organizing online painting, poster making and Slogan writing Competition On the
occasion of 51st NSS Day
Date: 24 Sep- 26 September 2020.
10. Mission Sabla- An online woman self-defence awareness campaign, on the occasion
of international day for girl child.
Date: 11th October, 2020
Under this initiative participants upload videos in which they teach the basic of martial
arts for self-defence purposes and for promoting learning of self-defence techniques and
videos on subject laws for woman safety in India. Because our unit believe that self help
is the best help.
11. Online Presentation for awareness regarding Global Hunger and Malnutrition on
occasion of World Food Day 2020 with related data.
For spreading awareness regarding Global hunger, malnutrition and food wastage a
short video was made by Volunteer Nishant Kanwar and pledge for not wasting food
was taken.
Outcome: For spreading awareness regarding Global hunger, malnutrition and food

wasting food was taken. The pledge for not wasting food was taken by the volunteers.
In order to promote this idea on big scale, the awareness video was uploaded on online
platform like YouTube and Facebook was taken.
12. Under EK BHARAT SHRESTHA BHARAT ABHIYAN, a quote writing
competition was organised on National Solidarity in collaboration with MARIAN
COLLEGE KUTTIKANAM (Kerala)
Under the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiative, a quote writing competition was organised
on National Solidarity in collaboration with MARIAN COLLEGE KUTTIKANAM (Kerala)
for the students of COE GCC Sanjauli, Shimla. More than 40 students participated in this
competition.
13. On observance of vigilance awareness week NSS volunteers of our college took
online pledge.
On observance of vigilance awareness week NSS volunteers of our unit took online
pledge since the physical gathering of the students was risky due to Covid-19 pandemic.
NSS Regional Directorate Chandigarh recognised our activity and tweeted from its
official handle. On the observance of vigilance awareness week Volunteer Bhagat Singh
prepare a short informative presentation on why there is a need for vigilance and integrity
for our nation and its citizens.

14. On the occasion of National Unity Day volunteers of our college took online pledge.
On the occasion of National Unity Day, 31 October, 2020 the online pledge was taken by
GC Sanjauli college students, organised by the college NSS unit. Since the physical
gathering of student in the time of pandemic was risky, the online pledge was preferred.
More than 80 students took online pledge. Students share their videos and images while
taking pledge at NSS Sanjauli official Facebook page.
15. Development and trail run of Human Resource Accounting system for evaluation of
efficient work performance.
In order to evaluate the performance, increasing the efficiency and productivity of NSS
volunteer and comparing the performance, the concept of Human Resource Accounting is
developed by volunteer Nishant Kanwar. The important data provided by this system can
also use for taking decision in future and task analysis.

16. Organizing District and State Level Pre-RD Camp
District and State level NSS Pre republic Day Camp is organized at centre of excellence
Government College Sanjauli. The objective of these camps is to select the candidates for
2021 Republic Day parade at Raj Path Delhi.
5 volunteers of NSS GC Sanjauli Unit participated in the Distt. Level pre-RD Camp. District
level pre-RD camp was organised on 09 November. From there the volunteers are selected for
state level pre-RD camp, which was organised on 11th November.
Volunteers for republic Day parade 2021 Delhi are selected on the basis of three parameters
i.e. marching capability, cultural performance and personal interview.
17. Mission Prakash
Mission Prakash was organised by NSS Sanjauli unit. Under this initiative NSS volunteer
promote the message of of Green Diwali and ask people to be the lamp of Diwali for other people by
performing an act of kindness and sharing the video of NSS Sanjauli Unit official facebook page.
Under this Campaign, volunteers organised cleanliness drive in their respective localities, to
promote green Diwali crackers were discouraged. Some volunteers planted indoor air purifying
plants like money plant, spider plants etc. Stray Animals were also fed as the part of campaign.
This initiative of our NSS unit was highly praised by College principal and public in general.
18. Constitution Day 2020
On the occasion of constitution day, volunteers with the help of social media network like YouTube
and Facebook educate and aware general public about their fundamental rights’ constitutional duties
and other important provisions of the constitution of India. The campaign of NSS Sanjauli unit was
widely praised. NSS RD Chandigarh posted our activity through their official twitter handle.
19. Organizing Prabhat Pheris
Under the fit India campaign by Government of India. The Prabhat Pheri are organised by the
NSS volunteers in their respective localities and villages. Does promoting the message of fit
India hit India. Under this campaign volunteers are ask to upload the videos and pictures of
their Prabhat Pheri on NSS GC Sanjauli official Facebook page. The objective of this campaign
is to promote exercise habit among people. NSS RD Chandigarh posted our activity through
their official twitter handle.
20. Padho Aur Padhaao Abhiyaan
Under this initiative NSS Volunteers of Sanjauli unit are providing free of cost tutions to needy students. Volunteer Bhagat
Singh, Richa, Nishant Kanwar, Rahul Premi, Priyanka, Shalu Chandel, Nitish, Deepaansh, Manisha are providing free of cost
tutions to needy students in their respective areas. Volunteer Nishant Kanwar is teaching Internation Business and India
Economy to students free of cost through Google Classroom. Any person can join classroom by code 2t5iqnk. This campaign
had helped students a lot and praised by public in general too.
