About:Thank you so much for downloading this product! We hope it will be a great resource for you and that you will love

it as much as we do! Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We’re here to help

in any way we can.

Our Snowflake Matching Beginning Sounds activity helps children develop their fine motor skills, independence,

attention-span, self-confidence, problem solving skills, and literacy. It corresponds to Common Core Standards

RF.K.2.D and RF.K.3.A as children use letter-sound knowledge, and identify initial sounds.

Prep:Step 1: Print pages 3-11 in color and laminate with 5 mil laminating pouches or print on cardstock and use as is.

Step 2: Cut out the snowflakes. We recommend storing the pieces in a baggie.

Step 3: Enjoy!

Directions:Step 1: Place all of the snowflakes face up on a table

Step 2: Pick one snowflake up and say the name of the picture on it. Listen closely to the beginning / initial sound.

Step 3: Find the snowflake that has a picture on it that starts with the same letter as the snowflake you’re holding

(i.e. book-bird) and place the pair together on the table. You could even clip the matching pairs together with a

clothespin.

Step 4: Continue steps 2 and 3 until you have matched all of the snowflakes together. The answer sheet is on page

12 of this packet.

Variations:1. For added practice, count how many pairs of snowflakes you were able to match.

2. You could even place the matching pairs in alphabetical order for an added challenge.
