M-Learning Literacy Initiative
for Incarcerated Street Children in Jaipur
•An estimated “x,xxx,xxx” malnourished, abused, neglected, under or un-educated children in Jaipur, Rajasthan. XX,XXX are incarcerated every year
•Juvenile Justice Act 56 of 2000 states priority to quick processing and fair treatment of street children - not strictly enforced
• Difficulties bridging new social connections within caste system
• Requires access to internet, technology platform, and sound mobile deliverables

Incarcerated Youth
o Hundreds of thousands of children leave home because of abuse by parents or other family members.
Orphans, unwanted children, and runaways are incarcerated along with those that have committed crimes (for stealing food, sleeping in train station). Many suffer abuse while incarcerated in addition to malnutrition, Scabies, STDs.
o “Observation homes” are usually over-crowded, and food supplies are short.
Changing the Pattern of Poverty
Partner with existing programs to meet health and welfare needs of the incarcerated children in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Level 2: Gaining Influence and Cultural Capital with Bollywood
Identify Opinion-Leaders - Bollywood Actors, playback singers and directors demonstrate support of literacy training for a stronger India and authorize content use for learning activities.
