4th, 5th and 6th EI: Learning animals sounds: We start singing the song “The little
chick cheep”. In every animal we stop the video and tell to the students the
sound in English because this sound is different in every language.
We use the Flash cards again to show the animal and the sound.
Step 2:
4th, 5th and 6th EI: The teacher tells the tale “Pretty Ritty”. In this tale appears
the animals that we learned in the previous step. We can use the Flash cards
too.
We sing the song “The little chick cheep”.
At the end, the pupils have to paint the draw of Pretty Ritty. The best painted
will be the main character in our play.
Step 3:
4th, 5th and 6th EI: The teacher tells the tale “Pretty Ritty”. Some pupils help the
teacher to tell the tale. The pupils show the animals and do the sound of that
when the animal appears. We can use the Flash cards.
We sing the song “The little chick cheep”.
At the end, the pupils have to paint the draw of the characters. Best painted will
be characters in our play.
Step 4:
4th, 5th and 6th EI: Every group votes to try the best painted characters. With
that, we plays again the tale. Almost twice.
The teacher repeat the animals’ names and the sounds. In groups (threes o
fours), the pupils do their animal sound.
Step 5:
4th, 5th and 6th EI: The pupils represent the tale in a play. The teacher reads the
tale and the pupils move the puppets and do the sounds.
Teachers’ team can record a video.
Final Product A play and a video recording.
Assessment Observation grids and games (we use the song and the games as evaluation).
Note: Important considerations:
- We are going to focus our work in words and expressions (Oral English).

- The English teacher speaks in English, even if the pupils use English, Spanish or
Catalan to speak with him. He gives the information and the instructions in
English; teacher will have to make the children understand what he wants to
say by reinforcing the spoken words with gestures (body language) and
pictures.
- The teacher will also have to make them repeat all the words, sounds and
expressions with the correct pronunciation and intonation (as correct as they
can).
- In 4th and 5th EI the activities will be developed in big group. In 6th EI we will
develop it in half groups.
- According to the learners’ rhythm and necessities the tense in the activities can
be modified.
