Instructions for Little Learners Farm Pack
These instructions are for use with the Toddler and Preschool Printable Packs created by Erika
@ www.prayspecies.com exclusively for Enchanted Home Schooling Mom.
What is it? – The images presented on this page are used throughout the printable. Making
sure your child understands what each of the images represents will help him/her complete the
rest of the activities.
Big or Small? – This page is designed to help your child identify size differences. Once your
youngster has mastered big versus small, try introducing the concept of medium sized.
Simple Puzzles – Having your child recognize how an image fits together is an early
component of problem solving and pattern recognition. Once he or she has mastered putting
together two halves of an image, try offering three slices of familiar images. If your child is
having difficulty completing these two piece puzzles, try showing them an example of how the
image should look.
Matching – This page provides the opportunity for your child to start learning relationships
between items. Since many toddlers and preschoolers lack the coordination to draw lines from
one object to another, either have them practice that skill or simply point to the item that
matches. If you are feeling more ambitious, you can print these images and have them
physically put the two that belong together next to each other or in a pile.
Where do I belong? – This exercise is meant to help your child recognize context clues. The
cut out images can simply be placed into the appropriate scenario or if your child enjoys using
glue that is also an excellent way to complete this page.
Letter Match – Before children have the fine motor control to form letters, shapes, and
numbers, they are able to recognize them. This activity allows children to express their
recognition and understanding of letters, shapes, and/or numbers without rushing them to try
tracing or writing before they are ready.
Bingo – Children can identify the object based on the clue you provide in a number of ways.
You can provide a token or small piece of paper to cover the selected item. They may choose to
mark the appropriate image in a number of ways including, but not limited to making an X,
circling, scribbling on top of the image, or using a Dot A Dot Art sponge tip applicator.

Same vs Different – This exercise is aimed at helping your child recognize patterns and
relationships between images. There are only three images in each line with two being the same
and one being different. Once your child has mastered finding one different image among three
images, increase the number of images to four or more. If your child is struggling to look at just
one line at a time, try cutting the lines out in strips or cover the lines you are not currently
reviewing with a paper or a book.
Let’s Count – Many young children are able to memorize how to count to ten or higher. Fewer
are able to conceptualize how many that number actually represents. This page is focused on
helping children start to understand how many is meant by two or three.
Category – This page is meant to be an active exercise allowing children to group objects into
one of two categories. It is also used to introduce new concepts. Once your child is able to
group images into two categories consider offering three categories, such as animal, plant, and
mineral.
What Comes Next? – Many young children thrive on routine, because it offers them a chance
to more fully understand their world. This activity aims to help children recognize common
patterns of occurrence in everyday life helping them to anticipate and understand order.
Fill the dots – Many toddlers and preschoolers love to color, but many lack the fine motor
coordination to color within the lines. This page provides young children the opportunity to
complete an image without putting too much focus on the final product. A Dot A Dot Art sponge
tip applicator (our favorite), small circle stickers, or glue and small pom poms are all excellent
ways to complete this page.
Memory – This is one of the first games that many young children are able to play. The
traditional method of play is to place all the cards facedown in rows and take turns flipping two
cards at a time. If the two cards match, then the player keeps the cards and takes another turn.
If the two cards do not match, the cards are turned facedown and it is the next player’s turn.
When you first start playing with this game with toddlers or preschoolers, try starting with fewer
cards and keeping the cards image side up. Then introduce more cards and turn them over to
play the memory game in the traditional manner.

Let’s Sign – The benefits of sign language are tremendous for young children and can assist
with language development, comprehension, and retention. Enjoy practicing these signs with
your children. If you need a simple online example of these signs try Signing Time’s Baby Sign
Language Dictionary.
Spanish – Learning just a few words in a foreign language can be fun and increase children’s
acceptance of learning a new language. My favorite resource for audio examples of how to
pronounce Spanish phrases and words is http://www.spanishdict.com/.
Crown Craft – This craft is meant to be used in concert with the scavenger hunt. As items
from the scavenger hunt are found they are to be attached to this crown. It helps keep
youngsters involved when they can “wear” their findings as opposed to just checking them off a
list. This page should be printed on cardstock and may need to be printed more than once
depending on the circumference of your child’s head. Tape, a stapler, glue, etc. can be used to
attach the sections of the crown.
Scavenger Hunt – Once an item is found it can be “glued” or “taped” onto the craft crown.
Other alternatives include putting the items into a bag or marking them in some way. Please
note that some scavenger hunt items are easily found around the house, others may be part of
puzzles or found in picture books. Alternatively, the images from the printable scavenger hunt
can be printed and hidden.
Activity Cards – One of the most rewarding and challenging parts of raising toddlers and
preschoolers is keeping them engaged. Letting them move and wiggle is often the perfect way to
help them enjoy learning and spending time with you. Have fun with these and invent some of
your own!
Note: I have used all of these games and activities with my own toddler and sincerely, hope
you and your youngsters enjoy using them as much as I enjoyed creating them and she
enjoyed testing them!
