Little girls in butterfly wings, butterfly loving plants in beautiful hand crafted boxes lining the table, cutouts of butterflies on each place setting, bright colors, everywhere, we truly felt as though we were in a butterfly garden. To say the ladies on the committee did a great job would be an understatement. You can tell they truly put their hearts into making this banquet enjoyable for all the mothers and daughters who would be attending. So much effort and time has been put into this wonderful night and we the church just want to say thank you to all who helped get everything together. The cafe even made the glistening butterfly sugar cookies that were served for dessert. All hands were on deck for this night as the men did a splendid job serving the ladies of the church. Well done everyone!

On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command:

Anticipation can fill us with joy but at the same time fear. There’s something about waiting and the unknown. Yet there’s this explosive moment when it all comes together. What you’ve been waiting for is finally happening. That’s where we find our disciples. They’re waiting, they’re eager and they’re in expectation as they anticipate this power from the Holy Spirit. What they know is when it comes they shall be witnesses to the entire world. We can’t begin to comprehend this power but it’s available to each and every believer.

The question today is are you powered up? Do you trust and believe in the power given unto you? Live today in surrender and commitment to being witnesses to the world. On that day of Pentecost, something like tongues of fires rested upon the disciples and they began talking in different languages so that everyone could understand. That’s the kind of power God gives; understanding to our lives and others. He takes the nonsense and m a k e s sense. He comforts us in our doubt and fear and despair. He leads and guides us when our paths seem confused. He takes us where we need to go. The power in the Holy Spirit can bring unity and overwhelming joy and peace.

Our greatest challenge in allowing the Spirit to move is self. We doubt and minimize our belief that God can do far more than we can imagine or hope. Yet amidst that unbelief, the power remains. We pray in Jesus Name he would use us for his glory. We direct our thoughts toward him and we wait for the Spirit to move in his perfect timing. There’s many opportunities to share the good news with this one power on high to make disciples of all nations. God is so good. Let us get on board and power up through the Holy Spirit.

Encouraging News Following the Renewal Services with Bob Kettering, the Deacons discussed ways to put his messages into action. One of which was to "Encourage each other." Turning to scripture, below are only a few passages that speak about encouragement.

How can we do this? How can we add one more thing to our already full plates?

Simply by going to the church mailboxes. There you will find pens and a plastic holder with repurposed post cards. (We have hundreds). Taking a card, write a quick note and place it in the appropriate mailbox. You may make someones day.

Examples: "The music was so inspiring this morning." "Thank You" to the projection persons, the sound system people, ushers... "I'm praying for you." " I'm thinking of you." to someone having a rough time/ "Have a great week." "Great to see you this morning.”

The ways to encourage and serve others are endless. Lets see how many of those postcards we can put to a good use.

Caroling & Visiting T h e D e a c o n s a r e inviting you to be a part of a new ministry -a monthly time of caroling and visiting w i t h s o m e o f t h e h o m e b o u n d m e m b e r s o f t h e c o n g re g at i o n . O n June 9 we will plan to leave for caroling after the Sunday School picnic.

T h e r e a r e opportunities to help children grow their spiritual lives through teaching/helping with S u n d a y S c h o o l , getting involved in VBS, and providing loving care in the nursery. Every Member Council made a decision to have one worship service over the summer months from June 16 - August 25 at 9 AM and Sunday School from 10:15 - 11 AM.

Womens Fellowship News Our next Womens Fellowship Meeting will be on Monday, June 3 at 7:00 p.m. All women of the Church are welcome to join us. Unless something comes up in the meantime, we usually dont meet in July.

The Crafters Group meets Tuesday, June 11 at 9:00 a.m. Come join us.

Saturday, June 15. Our Tractor, Truck, Motorcycle and Car Show starts at 8:00 a.m. and runs until 1:00 p.m. This is a fun event for our families and a chance to fellowship with our friends. The food stand is always in full swing, serving breakfast sandwiches and donuts, lunch and baked goods. We will greatly appreciate your donation of baked goods to be sold at the bake table and at the food stand. Please see Sally if you have flea market items to donate or if you wish to rent one or more tables at $5.00 each to sell your own items. Look for the sign-up sheet on the table in the Narthex because we always need help at the food stand. We appreciate each and every one of you for coming out to support our events.

Quilting continues every Thursday morning. Anyone interested in helping to quilt or learning to quilt is welcome to come.

The Men’s Fellowship Tool Yard Sale

Here is an opportunity for men (and women) to be involved in the mission and work of the church in

t h e c o m m u n i t y . T h e M e n ’ s Fellowship is sponsoring a Tool Yard

Sale to be held as a part of the annual Tractor, Truck and Car Show on June 15. We are looking f o r g o o d u s e d t o o l s , m e c h a n i c t o o l s , woodworking tools, gardening tools, power tools (working or non-working condition), hardware, etc. that you would like to sell. You may keep all of the money from the sale of your tools, or donate a portion or all of the money to the Men’s Fellowship. All you need to do is bring your tools to the church prior to the start of the show on Saturday morning, June 16. All tools need to be marked with your selling price and assigned seller’s number. Tags for pricing of tools and your seller number are available from Gary Bashore. All tools need a price tag with a price. It is the responsibility of the tool owner to determine the price of the tool. It would be nice to indicate if a tool is not working, broken or has any known defects (we should be honest). All unsold tools will be returned to the original owner. Unsold tools may be picked up after the show or the Sunday after the show in the pavilion.

It will be up to the individual to determine whether they want to donate a portion of the money from the sale of their tools or to donate the total amount.

June’s Mission of the Month ~ Work Camps Each month we have the opportunity to designate a portion of our offering to a specific missional fund or “mission of the month” But what exactly do these titles found in the bulletin mean? What do they really do? In June we have the privilege of supporting work camps. Work Camps include but are not limited to The Brethren Disaster Ministries or BDM. The mission of BDM is Inspired by Jesus, Brethren Disaster Ministries focuses on rebuilding homes, caring for children, and providing international relief by engaging our volunteers, supporters, and partners to serve communities recovering from disaster. We have sent teams with BDM last year and have a youth team going with them this year and hope to be able to send many more teams to serve the Lord with BDM.

New Sermon Series and church wide study group

Letters to the Church - Francis Chan

June 23 starts a brand new series focusing on the original vision for the church. Small group sign up sheets will be available in the narthex. Chan writes, “God's Church started as a radical, spiritually intimate gathering of believers that ultimately changed history. Yet millions today are content to be mere observers at church. Many more have left, brokenhearted and cynical. But God is waking up His people--people who will risk anything and sacrifice everything to be the dynamic, world-changing Church of Scripture.

In Letters to the Church, Francis Chan invites readers to wrestle with the fact that many churches have drifted from God's desire for them. He challenges Christians to ask, "What does God want for His Church? When Jesus returns, will He find us caring for His Bride--even more than for our own lives?"

Speaking out of deep love for the Church, Chan guides Christ-followers to live out God's magnificent and beautiful vision for His Church--a vision we may have lost but God has never forgotten.”

Family Camping Center Yard Sale SATURDAY, JUNE 29, 2019

9:00 AM 12:00 PM Camp Swatara will host a benefit yard sale on Saturday June 29 from 9am-12noon in the Family

Camping Center. Bring your items for sale either at your site or rent a table in the FCC Fellowship hall for $15. Individuals are welcome to keep the proceeds from their sales. Proceeds from the

table rental fundraiser will benefit the Family Camping Center.

Camp Swatara needs your help with the Annual Family Camp Auction! We want to make this auction the best yet! We are looking for individuals, SS classes, family groups, etc., who would be willing to donate something. Theme gift baskets are always a winner! Do you have a talent for painting, pottery, sewing, woodworking, etc.? Birdhouses and bird feeders are popular! We need items for the Children’s Auction, too! Do you have a service you could share? Think outside the box! Remember 100% of donations from the auction benefit Family Camp at Camp Swatara. There are no administration costs, it is organized and run by volunteers. We will be glad to pick up your donation, just give us a call to make arrangements. Date of the auction is Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Camp Swatara.
