LITTLETON Heritage High School 1401 West Geddes Avenue Littleton, Colorado 80120 303-347-7600 PUBLIC SCHOOLS May 5, 2015 Dear Heritage High School students, parents and guardians: I want to make you aware that there was an additional police presence at our school today. Please know that our students were never in danger. A student was detained by Littleton Police this morning prior to the scheduled start of the school day for being in possession of weapons in his vehicle. The items were never brought into the school and no students or staff were in danger. The items were immediately confiscated by Littleton Police, and the student has been arrested and is in police custody. The school day was not disrupted and classes have continued as scheduled. I want to thank the Littleton Police Department, our School Resource Officer, and my administrative team for their quick and appropriate action to this situation. All schools encounter situations from time to time that require a response. When that happens at an LPS school, we have processes and procedures in place that guide these responses. The safety and well-being of our students and staff continues to be our highest priority. As a reminder, weapons of any kind are not allowed on school grounds. Thank you for your partnership with us to keep our students safe. Sincerely, Stacey Riendeau
