Beloved Parish Family In Jesus Our Risen Lord, Can we know if the Holy Spirit has anointed us?
What are the signs of the Holy Spirit?
When the Holy Spirit comes upon us we receive His
Gifts and we can see the Fruits of His coming to us.
There are 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit and there are 12
Fruits of the Holy Spirit.
The names of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit are:
Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience,
Benignity, Goodness, Long-Suffering, mildness,
Faith, Modesty, Continence, Chastity.
(Galatians 5:22-23)
With the inspiration of the Holy Spirit we receive the
graces we need to perform good works. The Holy Spirit
brings us all that is really good, He makes us truly
happy, and He helps us to be pleasing to God and to all
those we meet.
Think about the Fruit of Charity. It is a perfect love.
With this good Fruit of the Holy Spirit we love God
disinterestedly and not for rewards we hope to receive.
When charity reaches a certain degree of maturity, we
come to experience the First Fruit of the Holy Spirit, the
joy of loving.
There are so many holy ones now in heaven who
devoted their lives to loving God with no motive what so
ever. What about the humble hermit of Lebanon, St.
Sharbel. He lived his life with only one desire, to give
everything to God. Of the many testimonies that show
us proof of the Fruit of Charity in his soul I think of
what he did immediately after he celebrated his daily
Liturgy. His Mass took him a long time to pray in the
solitude of his hermitage and then when he finished he
stayed close to the altar to thank God. God was so good
to call him to be ordained a Priest and then allowed him
to offer the Divine Liturgy and so God was worthy of an
unselfish thanksgiving. His thanksgiving was so pure
and his love for God so pleasing that God granted him
the extraordinary reward of preserving his lifeless body
for so many years after burial. God gives exceptional
rewards to those who do not look for any rewards.
Thank you St. Sharbel for your good example.

Mass with
St. Padre Pio’s Chalice
Sunday, June 1, 2014
8:30 and 11:00 AM
Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite
Catholic Church 507 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333
Msgr. William Bonczewski will be using a chalice for Holy
Communion that was used by St. Padre Pio in 1960. All are
welcome to attend Mass (Maronite Catholic Liturgy) at 8:30 or 11:00
AM. At the end of Mass all are invited to receive a blessing as
Father Bill places this chalice on the heads of the faithful as
he asks for special blessings for all who attend Liturgy.
St. Padre Pio was a Capuchin Franciscan priest who for fifty years bore the stigmata,
the wounds of Jesus in his hands, feet and side. He was born in 1887 near Naples, Italy
and most of his priestly life was spent in the small town of San Giovanni Rotondo. To
date, it is likely that there has been no other person who has had such a range of gifts
given to him by Our Lord. There were countless healings and miracles through his
intercession. He could read souls in confession. Pilots saw him in the sky during World
War II. There were reports of bi-location and many, many stories about Padre Pio
bringing about good things in the lives of others through his prayers.
The good Padre suffered much during his life. He was falsely accused of many sins and
was frequently attacked by the devil. But, the humble priest persevered and stayed close
to Our Lord. He spent hours and hours in the confessional. And he celebrated the Mass
with the greatest humility and love for Our Lord. His Masses were very long, and he
seldom gave a homily and yet many people would not realize how long they had been at
the Masses he celebrated.
There is story after story to read about this saint whose feast day is September 23rd. He
went home to Our Lord in 1968. May he bless us from heaven with his prayers.
