Oh, by the way,

As mentioned last week, Rachel was chosen to partake

in a Leadership Roundtable entitled Catholic Standards for

Excellence. The first program of its kind in the United

States, the Leadership Roundtable's Standards for

Excellence program is a national initiative to promote the highest standards of ethics and

accountability in Catholic Church management and operations. What makes the Standards for

Excellence program unique is that it provides Catholic diocese, parishes and nonprofits with a

common sense approach to achieve the highest standards in governance and management, while

staying focused on the pastoral mission, the people, and communities served.

The Standards for Excellence respond to the call for good stewardship and

accountability by the U.S. Bishops in their pastoral letter, Stewardship: A Disciple's Response,

by describing how well managed dioceses, parishes and Catholic nonprofits operate, serving as a

model for implementation. The Standards are also in full compliance with

canon law.

Eleven (11) people from diocesan offices, four (4) priests and five

(5) lay people from across the diocese participated. Leaving here at 6:30

a.m. Monday (registration at 8:00 a.m.), the day unfolded until 7:00 p.m.

that evening. Tuesday saw another early start. Rachel finally arrived back

in Winamac about 8:00 p.m. Looking at the agenda, both days were packed

with presentations, discussions and work time. She and I have been unpacking all the

information. Parish Councils have much work to do. The Catholic Standards for Excellence will

take some time to implement…and we will get there.

Catholic Relief Services, an organization of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), is a pro-life organization dedicated to preserving the sacredness and dignity of human life from conception to natural death. The 2019 Catholic Relief Services Collection will be taken up in parishes throughout the United States 30-31 March. This collections supports CRS and five other Catholic agencies that prioritize the family and protect the life and dignity of each person. By supporting the CRS Collection, you can help these organization build richer lives for the faithful around the world.

Where Does the CRS Collection Go? Funds acquired from the CRS Collection are distributed to these six organizations:

◼Catholic Relief Services. . . for international relief and development.

◼Migration and Refugee Services for refugee resettlement.

◼Catholic Legal Immigration Network Inc; (CLINIC) for immigration legal services.

◼Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development for advocacy.

◼Holy Father's Relief Fund for emergency relief.

◼Secretariat of Cultural Diversity in the Church for evangelization and ministry

REALM The diocesan program REALM continues to expand within the Diocese. We continue to discover how

the program benefits our Local Church and our parishes and is relatively user friendly. You will also discover

how easy this program is. You will be continually reminded about the process. As of 1 February 2020, families

will download their own individual tax statements. Parishioners are free to modify their individual webpage,

picture, address, phone numbers, etc. How does one sign up for REALM? Call the Business Office during

regular business hours. An invitation will be forwarded to you. Once there, each family selects their individual

password! And no, the Cluster Office nor the Diocesan Office can see it! One interesting caveat that

has been discovered: some parishioners are registered in two (2) and three (3) parishes!

THAT issue will be cleared up! (In addiction to tracking numbers for various activities!)

The Passion of the Christ As we journey through Lent, the liturgy always points to the Triduum. The middle day,

Good Friday is indeed somber and soul-wrenching. In preparation and reflection for that

day, the Liturgy/ Social Activities Committees of St. Peter Parish Council, The Passion of the

Christ will be shown in the Parish Hall. Mark your calendars for 7 April. Sign-up sheets will be

posted. NO ONE under 18 unless accompanied by their parent. Q & A afterwards.
