Integral throughout the Western expansion and Indian Wars. Mostly now known for the Battle of Little Bighorn. Also used by secondary units in the Spanish-American War prior to adoption of Krag Rifl e/Carbines. This particular one is original as far as overall fi nish goes and original as most were cut down rifl es. The hammer is a period replacement.

In 1895 Frederic Remington began to make sculptures, producing 22 diff erent subjects, specializing in depictions of the Old American West.
