Since 2001, Kathleen Bartels has led the Gallery through a period of unprecedented growth, spearheading its journey to build a new, greatly expanded museum building that will celebrate the art of British Columbia and its unique place in our world. She has been named one of Vancouver Magazine’s “Power 50” most influential leaders and most recently received the YWCA Women of Distinction Award in Arts, Culture and Design, presented in May 2017.

Bruce Grenville was recently appointed the Interim Chief Curator at the Vancouver Art Gallery and has been the Senior Curator since 1997. He works extensively in the field of visual culture. Major curatorial projects include KRAZY! The Delirious World of Anime + Manga + Video Games + Art and MashUp: The Birth of Modern Culture. He is an expert in the evolution of contemporary cultural production with an in-depth knowledge of Takashi Murakami’s work.
