Spring is here – and the Senior Center is bursting with new opportunities! We have lots of new classes, presentations and activities which are outlined here in the newsletter and also explained in more detail on our website, www.seniorcenterjh.org. On May 30th the Public Health Nurses will be offering an immunization clinic – it
doesn’t have to be flu season to get a pneumonia or tetanus shot! This is a great opportunity to have the nurses review your immunization records and advise on what vaccines you may need. Don’t miss this opportunity to get up to date and ready for the busy summer season!

Happy Mother’s Day!
Mother’s Day is May 13 this year. This special day is a great time to remember your favorite part of being a Mom, your favorite thing about your Mom and the best of your children’s Mom.
We asked a few of the Senior Center clients what’s the best advice they gave as a Mom or that Dad gave to the kids about their Mom. Here is what we heard:
• Stay away from bad boys! (Mother of 2)
• Do the best you can and always be kind. (Mother of 3)
• Always treat people the way you want to be treated (Mother of 3)
• If your hair always looks nice, you’ll always feel good about yourself (Mother of 2)
• Leave home! (Mother of 1)
• Listen to your mother or she will kill you! (Father of 9)
• Your mom has a big heart don’t take advantage of it! (Father of 2)
• It is okay to say no. (Mother of 1)
• Do unto others as you would have done to you. (Mother of 9)
• Keep communication lines open. (Mother of 3)
• If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. (Father of 3)
We hope you will attend the Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch sponsored by the Elks Club at the Senior Center 11:30 am Sunday, May 13. All ages are welcome and compliments of the Elk’s Club! Please RSVP to the Senior Center.
Mothers are a Special Gift by Faye Diane Kilday
Mothers are a special gift
sent from God above,They bless us with their
nurturing,And fill us with their love.
They pick us up when we are down,
And when we’re sad they know,
They’re always there to lend a hand,
And guide us as we go.And mothers are like special
jewelsthat can’t be bought or sold...
A mother’s love’s more precious
than the rarest gem or gold.Yes, mothers are a special gift sent from God above,
And we’ll be blessed forever with their never ending love!
