A Successful Term
Term 3 has been a term full of achievements for our school but also for many individuals.
Students delivered some great academic efforts in NAPLAN, and the Australasian Science, English and Maths Competitions, and we were the ’C Schools’ winners in the Bundaberg Maths Teams Challenge again in 2018.
We had a very successful Book Fair as well as Book Week celebrations in August. Thanks to all staff and families for supporting these events.
In sport, our school is Gin Gin District Sports champion and many of our students have represented at district or zone level. Special congratulations to Jaeken Gorlick who has been selected to attend the State Athletics Championships again in 2018.
In music, our Corps of Drums has performed in a number of community festivals and events, while our strings, recorder and choir students have been active.
As well, we have had great community involvement and support with P&C, staff and parents and students at the recent disco.
Congratulations to staff, students and parents for an outstanding effort throughout the year to this stage.

The Dental Van is operating on a different model of care this year. Each student’s parent/carer/guardian will be contacted directly by Dental Van staff to coordinate an appointment. The parent/carer/
guardian will then be required to attend at this first appointment.
If you have not already completed an Offer of Dental Treatment, sent
out earlier this term, please collect a form from Administration.
Thank you.
There are many items in the lost property basket, mostly jackets
and jumpers.
If you believe any of these items might belong to your child/ren, please collect from the lost property basket on the verandah outside Administration. These items will be displayed in the Shelter Shed on Wednesday afternoon. If the items are
unclaimed by the end of the term, they will be donated to charity.
Thank you.
Fill a Bookshelf Fundraising Campaign Kolan South State School are participating in the Indigenous Literacy Day fundraising campaign titled Fill a Bookshelf, which runs for the month of September. The campaign aims to raise $300,000 to help gift 30,000 new books to schools and service organisations in remote communities where books are scarce.
We are asking our community to donate a virtual book, by way of a donation, on our fundraising page: https://www.ild.org.au/teams/kolan-south-state-school. Our goal is to raise $250 toward this very worthy cause. Please help support our efforts to give our remote communities the gift of literacy.
Thank you.
The Tooth Fairies from Coral Coast Dental were a
