Hobsonville Point has been planned from day one to include all the things a community needs to thrive. Unlike other parts of Auckland which have grown organically and then run out of room before essential facilities like schools and parks can be added, Hobsonville Point is building these amenities at the same time as the homes. You can move your family in knowing you've bought in a great area that will just keep getting better.

Over the next few pages we'll show you a few of the reasons why you'll love living here.

a new Home

two new scHools

If you haven't lived in a new home before you won't believe the difference it makes to both your comfort and your power bill. Pretty much any new home beats an old one, but the homes here are in another league again. Our compulsory sustainability measures result in homes here using 28% less power and 30% less water than the Auckland average.

the big picture

Hobsonville Point has two brand new, decile 9 schools so your children can benefit from a seamless education from Years 1-13 in their own community. Hobsonville Point Primary and Hobsonville Point Secondary School each has their own separate campus with state-of-the-art facilities, but share a board of trustees and a common approach to learning.

tHe Harbour Goes without saying, if you can live near the water why wouldn’t you? Time to get the kayak out of storage.

cHaracterNew subdivisions very rarely have mature trees and characterful old buildings. Hobsonville Point has already been lived in and loved. And that gives it instant appeal.

a convivial café

a PoPular farmer's market

It's nice to have somewhere you can meet a friend for coffee or take the kids for a treat. Catalina Café is that place for our community. It has a great al fresco space for summer drinks in the sun and free wi-fi if you need to work through lunch. To keep pace with our growing community, new cafés and takeaway options will be opening at Hobsonville Point during 2015.

There's a reason the Hobsonville Point Farmers Market is so popular – it's so good. Get a taste for the good life with a visit this weekend. It's on every Saturday and Sunday from 9am-1pm, rain or shine, in the refurbished Seaplane Hangar at The Landing.

a bustling HigH street

Hobsonville Point Road is set to become our community's high street. This 2.5km road, which runs through the centre of the township, will be lined with homes, shops and small businesses. This is the place to live if you like being in the heart of the action – even more so if have a business you can run from home.

The area called 'The Landing' where the Farmers Market is held will become the social hub of Hobsonville Point in just a few years time. The planned development includes offices, apartments, and harbourside dining and shopping. Many of the old buildings will be reused and a wide waterfront esplanade will be the place to be on a sunny day, to sit or wander with a gelato or coffee in hand.

easy access to two motorways

If you've got to drive it's nice to know that you've got two motorways to choose from. State Highway 18 connects you to both the Northern (SH1) and Northwestern (SH16) motorways. It takes 20 minutes to drive to the CBD off peak, and even in morning rush hour the commute is typically less than 35 minutes.

a bus stoP outside your door

All homes are withn easy walking distance of a bus stop, most of them less than six minutes away. A local bus service to Westgate connects to The Landing and the ferry wharf. The 'cross town' service connects to the northern busway on SH1, linking Hobsonville Point to Albany and the CBD.

a commuter ferry into town

This regular commuter service to downtown Auckland via Beach Haven is well established from our new ferry wharf. There are sailings morning and afternoon, Monday to Friday.

room to moveWe're serious about providing residents with the space they need to get outside, exercise, connect with nature, and enjoy their weekend. A total of 26 hectares has been set aside for parks, reserves and open space. The first of our parks to be completed is Hobsonville Point Park on Buckley Avenue near Catalina Café.

Hobsonville Land Company has a deliberate 'play strategy' in place, meaning we are committed to offering residents of all ages places they can use as extensions of their backyard. These green spaces are being built at the same time as the homes around them and will offer a connected network of parks. Combined with our compact neighbourhoods and safe streets, this park network will allow children to increase their 'roaming range' as they grow.

an award winning cHildren’s PlaygroundThe kids don't care about awards, of course, they just love the challenge presented by the equipment. The sculptural shapes are based on seedpods found on our coast. You'll find the playground in Hobsonville Point Park on Buckley Avenue, just before Catalina Café.

a 4km coastal walkway

This is something we're very excited about. By end 2015, three-quarters of Hobsonville Point will be encircled by a Coastal Walkway. The word 'walkway' doesn't do it justice, although it will be used to walk, run or cycle around. It's more a scenic journey along the coastline with varied and engaging points of interest along the way. The design (co-developed by our dream team of New York and Auckland based landscape architects) is too complex to outline here, but to give you a sneak preview... Imagine sculptural bridges suspended over bush-clad gullies; rest or picnic spots with elevated views of the harbour; a waterfront promenade; boardwalks meandering through mangroves; art and sculpture in the landscape; and pods where children can find play materials and teenagers unpack beanbags to relax in.

Every home at Hobsonville Point will be close to a link path where residents can join the Coastal Walkway. The first part of the walkway is already finished. It is the inland section where it crosses the site at Hobsonville Point Park.

bomb PointAt Hobsonville Point you won't have a back yard you can get lost in. You'd only have to mow it, anyway. Instead you have Bomb Point (Onekiritea): 11 hectares of waterfront wilderness where you and the kids can run free, fly a kite, climb a tree, exhaust the dog and generally enjoy the great outdoors. Plans for the park, (which we envisage Auckland Council will take over the management of), include an outdoor performance venue.
