What is a Living Learning Community?

Living Learning Communities (LLCs) arefloors or clusters of rooms wherestudents with similar interests and valueslive together and engage in creative,social, and educational programmingrelated to the topic of their specificcommunity.A Living Learning

Community is a group ofstudents who live together

in an area of residence,who share a commonprogram, career goal,

and/or personal interests.

Meet like-minded friendsConnect with a variety of Queen'sFaculty outside of the classroomShare goals, projects, and challengesBenefit from peer and professionally-led events created with students'interests and development in mind3

Core LLC Experiences

In each of our LLCs, there are four core experiences:

1. Learning LunchesShared lunches with a faculty or staff member occurring twice per term

2. Bi-weekly Community Meetings

3. Program-wide Leadership Skill Building Workshops (Living Learning Programs)

4

4. LLC Legacy Project

An opportunity for the residence community to reconnect and discuss upcoming events in residence, on campus, and in the Kingston area

Monthly workshops that allow students across the LLC program to make connections with theirpeers and gain valuable personal growth skills

An annual project each LLC designs and implements throughout the year to leave a lasting impacton their floor, residence, campus, or Kingston community

Participation in the fourLLC Core Experiences is

not mandatory, but ishighly encouraged!

Living Learning Program Workshopsare monthly personal growth and skill-building programs offered only tostudents residing in our Living LearningCommunities. Living Learning ProgramWorkshops allow students to meetother first-year students acrosscampus and participate in highlyengaging and reflective activities.
