THIRSTING FOR UNITY

In today’s Gospel, Jesus is thirsty and goes to the well for a drink of water. He meets a Samaritan woman, who expects him to treat her like dirt. But surprise! He talks to her like a fellow human being, treats her with respect and interest. And what happens? Why, pretty soon the whole town turns out to hear him. Centuries earlier, the Israelites, wandering in the desert, were thirsty. They had no water. All they had was an attitude problem. They growled at Moses, “Why did you ever make us leave Egypt?” But surprise! God gave them water from the rock. No questions asked. All the peoples of Earth are travelers on this planet together, all thirsting, all harboring our own fearful expectations of each other. But God, as a loving parent, treats us all with generous care and compassion. We are one family. We could surprise each other. We could remember we are one. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Muchos siglos antes, los israelitas, ambulando en el desierto, sintieron sed. No tenían agua. Sólo tenían una mala disposición. Se quejaron a Moisés: “¿Por qué nos has hecho salir de Egipto?” ¡Pero que sorpresa! Dios les dio agua de la roca;

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Stations of the Cross Practice

for those in grades 6 thru 12.

If you are interested, join us in the church at 11:30 am on Sundays. Parent pick up is 3:00 pm.

How did the Stations of the Cross begin?

The Stations of the Cross began as the practice of pious pilgrims to Jerusalem

who would retrace the final journey of Jesus Christ to Calvary.

Later, for the many who wanted to pass along the same route, but could not make the trip to

Jerusalem, a practice developed that eventually took the form of the fourteen stations currently

found in almost every church.

casi toda iglesia.

Cookies for Kairos

As the 8th grade class of 2015, we exuberantly join Father Leo in serving the Kairos Prison Ministry (an international prison ministry that aids in shaping the lives of many men, women, and juveniles who are incarcerated) for our service project this year. Our goal, with the help of the school and church community, is to collect 400 packages of store bought cookies. Father Leo will need these by Sunday, April 12th. These cookies will be brought to Lake Correctional Institute. (Rumor has it…Fig Newtons are a favorite.) Please be attentive to the expiration date, as to make sure that the package of cookies does not expire before April 2015. Beginning Sunday, February 22nd: Students, Faculty and Staff members may bring the cookies to school. An 8th grade student will come to your location to collect them. Parishioners may drop off the cookies at the parish office or before any Mass. (A designated basket/box will be in the vestibule of the church to place them in.) We kindly thank you for your support in helping us with this service project. God bless you in your thoughtfulness and generosity.

Sincerely, Ms. Bresnahan and the 8th grade class of 2015

Fig Newtons son una de las favoritas.)
